Found this LINK and would like to know if anyone tried it? I know there is alot of resistance in the black ice, but would it help to mod it in this way, since the water would stay about 1/2 the time in the rad, but double the water flow, I would guess that it would cool the same. Any comments?

rather than doing that, maintain the same flow by splitting your water line into two and sending it through a second Black Ice =]

Thats a good idea, I was also thinking of this since I then could run my 120cm pabst at 7v without any problems.

In general you want slow flow in your rad and high flow in your block. This is the principle behind low pressure drop radiators.

One thing though.
Having a relatively low internal pressure drop may create a laminar flow, whereby coolant to rad heat conductivity will be compromised. An LPD version of the Black Ice is being tested for use in medical equipment. The only caveat is that it is marginally longer and may defeat the purpose of seamless 120mm case-fan integration. The Black Ice will be undergoing some tweaks soon to marry the same convenience and performance benefits. [ 10-16-2001: Message edited by: TNT2bluz ] |
