having a little problem with my unix server... and i can't get it to work right.
running FreeBSD 4.7-RELEASE, using a dynamic ip. for some reason inetd isn't acting properly. i can use telnet over the network without problems (actually, i use puTTY, on ssh). ftp ports are open, but it won't finish a connection. connects, then asks for password (used both ie ftp and ws ftp le), says it can't connect. this is also happening with HLDS. the program runs, i can see the server running in the list, but it doesn't list a map, and i can't connect to the game server. used to work just fine, but now the only connection i can successfully make is the ssh conenction with puTTY. i dunno what's going on. nothing connects, but it's there. HLDS worked fine before... reconnected everything. not sure. if anyone has any ideas, i could use the help. btw, i edited inetd.conf, uncommented the telnet and ftp lines in it (they were commented out), restarted, but still to no avail. any ideas? thanks if you can help ![]() ![]() |

you need to look at your ftp logs... if it writes to the system logs then syslog should have your answer.
