Default first time wc... suggestions for max. performance?

hello.
i am new to watercooling i have a 1800xp and a antex sx830 case.
after browsing around many forums for a long time ive come up with a list of parts...

radiator: heatercore
block: cathar "white water"
tubing: silicone or tygon, 5/8"id
pump: was thinking about an iwaki... too expensive, not worth the $, now im considering a ViaAqua 1300 or an eheim 1250.

im looking for the best price to performance ratio here... also shooting for high flow
i only want to run a single inline setup... only the CPU.
the only thing i havent decided is the pump! any other suggestions would be helpful too.

thanks

If price is an issue, then Eheim's are fairly expensive as well....
You might want to look into a Danner.

Why the need to go for the 5/8" ID tubing? While I can fit 5/8" barbs onto my block, I can't source the 5/8" Y's in Australia (yet). You aren't going to notice a significant increase in flow rates with a 5/8" system over a 1/2" system for a short CPU-only loop, that and 5/8" ID tubing is quite large and difficult to work with (bend, etc).

well its not too hard for me to get 5/8 tubing, and i can easily get all parts (block, heatercore, pump) with 5/8 barbs so why not? even the small increase in flow might prove helpful. also are there bending problems with 5/8 tube?

Not if you use silicone. Vinyl will collapse. The braided vinyl requires room to get a good turn, but will not collapse. I would also recommend a Danner Supreme Pondmaster pump. They are excellent and quiet, if you put them on a vibration absorbing mat (like fibrous open cell foam). Think about a 350 or higher. Maybe a 500? You should be able to pick one up online for around $50 USD. You'll hate yourself if you go for a Via Aqua or Maxijet or Rio.

Oh, and 1/2" ID Clearflex 60 (see Pro/Deals) can be stretched over 5/8" barbs creating bulletproof seals if clamped. Food for thought.

I don't hate myself for using a Maxi Jet...

I hate myself for buying that Maxtor...

Yes but easily fixed. Also put a hose clamp on the inlet piece to keep from cracking, and use plastic barbs.
