Default making a Reservoir from...

hey everyone, just joined this forum and its what i was looking for sweet block designs everyone!!!.

i just wish i found this site before i made my block , but by the looks of things, i did a pretty sweet job with mine. no pic though

any way, i want to make a reservior for my to-be water setup, i have a lot of plexi glass about 1/4in thick, maybe a bit thicker.
i want to make the reservior from the plexi glass, i was thinking of joining it with acetone (melts the plastic) and sealing the edges with silicon cocking.

would this reservior hold up? is plexi glass a good material to use?

oh, for the water, i will use distilled water, im not sure if i should ad a bit of coolant to stop stuff from growing in the system. and im wondering if i ad coolant, will that eat away at the plexi glass/silicon cocking?

should work...I'm pretty certain thats the way everyone else makes their plexi-reservoirs.

I'd use Plumber's Goop or Aquarium Sealant as I've heard the silicon caulk doesn't stick to plexi very well.

just what i wanted to here,

thanx everyone!!!!

yeah i might get something other then silicon cocking to seal it, im going to be making a fan bus in the resevior so i need a good seal, but thats regardless.

here is a crappy picture of the design
any suggestions for changes? im going to use 1/2plastic bards the ones that are bent like in the pic.

so i guess the coolant wont eat away at the plexi glass, sweet.

yea weld-on (or aceton, although i'ld prefer the weld-on) and then some nice sealant should work.

A shame you don't have any pictures of your block, care to describe it? Always interested in waterblocks

For the water you would be better off adding something to kill the algae, antifreeze, bleech, ... I don't think any of these eat plexi, you could verify it with a spare pice of plexi though, if you want to be safe

I'd avoid a bent barb, just because it's an additional restriction, but hey, that's just me.

hmm yea, depending on where you put it in the case, you could even eliminate both barbs

How can i eliminate the Bards?

if i can get a pair of the straight 1/2in metal bards for free, i'll use those

here is some stuff on my block
inside has this design: http://www.procooling.com/reviews/as...-BE-Layout.jpg
two 1/2" bards for water flow
1"H x 2"1/8W x 2"1/2L inches
or
2.6H x 5.3W x 6.1L cm
base and side walls are approx 2mm, that means this is about 17mm deep, which is pretty deep

this block is pretty large, i almost covers up the wholes im going to use. i didnt pay attention to them when making the block .but it fits right over teh edges of them, and im going to make a plexi glass holder for it,

i dont have a digicam so i'll try to see if i can get something to make pics
