Default GF3 watercool

look here second page http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/3DMark2001/

how does he cool the ram???
anybody an idea ...
can't figure it out.

Does he use coldplate that toutches the GPU
and RAM and than cools the coldplate with the peltier. If so the GPU and RAM have to be perfectly at the same height

greetz

I believe you are correct, it looks to me like he has a single coldplate that covers GPU+mem. I don't have a GF3 yet(...soon...very soon...) to look at that myself, but even if they were at different heights, he could either mill a step into the coldplate, or stack a thin plate to fill the gap between the lower part and bottom of the main coldplate.
By the looks of the finish on the coldplate, he either took the second route, or beat a step into the coldplate with a rock.

Hehe, yeah, that is a great idea. I'm hoping to get a custom made waterblock for my GF3 in NanoCube. I'd like one block that covers the GPU and ram, and is only 1/2" thick. So the barbs will have to come out the "side" rather than the "top" of the block. Why? Because there's 1/2" of space between the AGP and first PCI slot.. I think watercooling is a good answer to all these video heatsinks that block 1 or 2 PCI slots, but right now nobody is doing it properly.. Besides, in NanoCube, I'll need all the PCI slots I can get.

...but what about condensation...

you should insulate the upperside of the
plate and between the vcard and coldplate.

not so easy if you wanna do it right.

I'm not sure if you were directing that question at me or not. My plans don't include a pelt because of the size constraints. Most pelts are like 1/4" thick, and I only have 1/2" of room to play with, so there's no way I could squeeze one in there. (Well, I can imagine a way, but it would be very inneficient) I'm just planning to run a normal waterblock with water that's kept cool with a normal radiator. Hence no condensation. Should be more than enough to cool the card well beyond what the best aircoolers do. And all without blocking a PCI slot or making alot of noise.

pelts are typically 3-4mm Una, that's about 1.8"

Yes, 3-4cm Wide.. I'm saying thick.. They're like 5mm thick or so.. That's the space I can't spare because the PCI slot is too close.

Reread, I said 3-4mm not cm, I was meaning thick. Also that 1.8" should read 1/8"

Ahh, Ok.. Well it'd still be too difficult to keep the waterblock thin enough to fit in any kind of pelt. Water alone would do wonders for a video card. We'll see. Still going to be difficult getting a block that matches my desires.
