Leak Testing
Here are my questions based on the rad/shroud, BayRes, Spir@l, Hydor parts you see for this 1/2" setup. 1. It's configured pump > wb > rad > res > pump. Should I consider rad > wb instead? 2. Based on the position of the components, should I raise/lower BayRes, pump, etc.? Or configure differently? Any other suggestions/recommendations? BTW, this Hydor L30 is whisper quiet and not even warm to the touch. |

Gettig there eh?...
1: I would'nt worry, do whatever is easiest for fitting... 2: I'd try and raise the pump&res so they are on the same level as the block, or not lower anyway, anywhere between the rad and blocks level, and use as short an amount of tubing as possible... |

Thanks...will do! Since Koolance was my first experience with water earlier this year, obviously putting this together has been a real eye-opener. Just the amount of water I had to use to fill the system was quite surprising.

If you are wanting to use your bay-res as an airtrap/filling point, it needs to be highest part of the system. You could flip your scoop/rad so rad is at bottom and fans are on top, then put the bayres in highest bay. Also since you have all those bays, mounting the pump in one about even with the cpu would be good. Thats a freakin big case, what brand model is it? With all that room, you have lots of options.

What MDM said
![]() The most important is: shortest tubing lengths, and less turns, no elbows. I've got the same pump as yours (Hydor L30) for 2 years now, and i find it noisy and hot ![]() Did U have to glue the impeller ? I had to... |

No, didn't have to glue the impeller and it's been running for almost 24 hours straight and I just felt it and it's not even warm to the touch. I couldn't even tell it was running until I got right up on it. The water moving in the tubes and sloshing in the BayRes seem to make more noise.
Unloaded, it's a maxtop server case. $59 from NewEgg. |
