Default Al heatercore bad or terrible?

After a bit of poking round my HC, it turns out to be aluminum with brass cap ends See this thread http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/sho...&threadid=5187

I'm tempted to cut up the HC and make my own Cu tubing between the endcaps, has anyone done this before???? (recomendations anyone?)

And seen as this Xmas proved to be as boring as the last, I did a bit of lapping (Atlantis NB & CPU)

I'd say just get a new heatercore, and make sure it's not aluminum.

Is the alu one new? Have you modified it yet? Can you return it?

NEW HEATERCORE!!!??? Where's the fun in that?
Seriously though, no it's quite old and I have a copper loop in a chiller so I don't need this HC at the mo. I was just wondering if anyone had tried it. It would be easy to make a really high flow rad this way, I'm just thinking about fin construction, the hows and whats to use.

give the HC a try, its huge, so it should still be good. if not then you can always replace it later, besides you got it for free, why spend money without even trying it out first.

The problem is that I'm going to be using it with copper WB's. I have no water wetter here just some branded antifreeze of which I don't trust. I don't want my blocks being corroded
