Can anyone recommend a good brand of cooling fan that's relatively quiet and effecient, and has 3-wires for RPM monitoring? I'm planning to use 80mm for case cooling, 120mm for radiator cooling, and monitoring them with a DigiDoc5.
Love the site...VERY informative.

go to that link if you want to hear any of the fans, although you have to have your volume set right, you can read them in comparison with the other fans though.

I ordered a box of 36 Panaflo FBA08T12L fans , the 80mm slim ones, and they are great. Quiet at 12V, very quiet at 7V, and dead silent at 5V. They just don't have the RPM cable, but I never really understood why people look at RPMs anyway... as long as its spinning, I'm happy.
If you can stand not having the RPM cable, I can sell you a few for way below retail. Otherwise, I'd look for some Panaflo L1A's or similar with the RPM cable. The Vantec Stealth fans look good, if they weren't so freakin' expensive. |

If you have the space, just get one of these MONSTERS!
http://www.comairrotron.com/dcfans/MajorDC.htm Size: 6.75" x 5.92" x 2.00" deep (171.5mm x 150.4mm x 50.8mm) 300CFM! I found a couple at an electronics liquidation store for only $6.50... I'm running it at around 8volts and it still puts out 157CFM! It's almost silent. And the bearings are nice too. I was thinking that if you have the room and a nice shroud, you could get a blower-fan and just make a bend for the air to flow towards the rest of your system cards. Blowers are usually the most silent of fans. Good luck ![]()
