Hydrothruster is in....

It's a honker!

about 9in. long and 4in. diameter.

fired it up to check the noise level. Was kinda loud until I stuck it in a sink full of water and had it circulate, then things quited down quite a bit.

The only noise it made was a transformer type of hum, from the motor...fairly quiet. I think I can get it to total silence once it's in the box with all the different sound deading materials installed.

The little flow rate control box is pretty sweet.

Was thinking of posting pix but didn't think anyone really cared what it looked like so...if you really want to see the beast, lemme know and I'll snap a couple pix and post them.

Ordered a Duron 800 last night too. So now, I just need all the misc. crap like foam, silicone sealant, and misc hose fittings....oh, and one big thing

well if you are strapped for cash to get a good case, I would get an In-Win Q500, for $85, its a full tower, comes with a removable motherboard tray, and fits all kinds of watercooling goodness and its easy to cut into, thats just my opinion

Couple weeks back I realized that all this stuff isn't going to fit (2 BigMomas and Big friggin Pump are the problem). So, in comes the custom made box.

The more I thought about it, the more excited I got because doing a custom box means you can design exactly like what you want.

Joe...ja, I noticed my page would intermittently give the 404 as well but it IS working, just crappy geocities.

I think linking to pix on a geocities site is the culprit. I've seen another thread where someone was saying there was a fix where instead of putting www, you would put fp....tried that too and it still didn't work.
I'll prolly look around for another free site hosting location. Any recommendations?

$119 + s/h from petwarehouse.

It's actually rated at 500GPH. It's a high pressure pump, about 9.5 PSI, so I shouldn't have to worry about losing flow rates when pushing water through my 2 BigMomas and the rest of the system.

The pump, with its 9-10 PSI capability, is designed to gain speed as head pressure increases. Damn.. 1.6amp.. That's well over 100watts of electricity.. My Danner Magdrive model 2 moves 250gph but only uses like 15watts.. I suppose that's a full load rating for your pump tho.. It definately looks cool with that clear housing on it, should look awesome with glow-dye and a blacklight..

Ja, 1.6A is for full rated output but is still pretty high compared with smaller pumps.

In order to maintain flow rates when flow is restricted, it does take a higher current motor to move the water. It's under those restrictvie conditions that the smaller pumps start to crap out and their flow rates drop like a rock.

Then again, after I do flow rate tests to find the optimum, it may turn out that I could've gotten away with a much smaller pump...in that case, oh well. It will just be good info for everyone else to know so they won't have wonder.

The dye and blacklight prolly would look pretty cool with the clear head on the pump...we'll see.
