Default Chiller question...

Ok im thinking of making up some chiller (2x Slot 1 or A waterblocks and 2 or 3 big peltiers) to chill the water before it goes to my waterblock on my cpu, now I am thinking that with the chiller the water would get cold enough that I would not need a radiator for the cpu's loop is this correct?

That is a weird question that i've been thinking about too. To avoid the question altogether, I make the chilled water heat up to just above room temp, go through a rad, and then re-enter the chiller.

If you have big enough pelts, then you won't need a radiator.. remember Frosty Fox?

Sure I would run a little inline pump to the hot side of the waterblock and then to a radiator and then back again to the hot side waterblock, sound good?

Sounds great, just make sure to have the Peltiers in the chiller have a much higher QMax than the heat load (so it is actually doing something). It would be REALLY awesome if you put a Peltier on the CPU too.... kick ass.

Well on the other side of the blocks you will need a radiator, and Frosty DID have that. but on the cool side you dont.

If I remember right Frosty used a very interesting setup of pooling BOTH loops. Check out this, as I talked a bit about those setups: http://www.procooling.com/ttech/Arti...quid_cool.html
look at some of the fist articles.
Edit: Here is the exact article: http://www.procooling.com/ttech/Arti...rt3/part3.html

Those are the FIRST web articles I had ever done!

Ok now....so if i have a 156 watt peltier on my athlon running at 1100 about how big would the pelts in the chiller have to be to make a difference? All the other discussions on this subject seemed to conclude that it would make the difference of a fraction of a degree. Say i used like 3 80 watt pelts...would that cool the water a few degrees?

Ok I found my setup I am going to be running a 156w or 172w peltier on my cpu and then I am thinking about using 2 or 3 (however many I can fit on the waterblock) 172w peltiers is this overkill or will it really get me great cooling?

This is also similar to what I ran into. That is A LOT of heat put into the water. The water is gonna be really hot when it gets to the chiller. So what was once used to chill the water is now performing a radiator's job. In otherwords, it would be better to have a radiator and then put a chiller after that.

Kevin you are using 3 50 watters I think I read, is that right? How good of a job is it doing so far, or have you tested it?

Well, the main thing is that you do NOT lose the radiator when going to this setup. If you keep the rad, then technically ANY peltier would have an effect. I would imagine that 100w is probably enough to notice it.
