Default Running a WC'd system w/ fans turned off?

Okay, I am planning on buying a dual 120mm fan radiator, and I was wondering if I could just turn the fans off for overnight...if not....how quiet is 120mm PanafloH1A on 7v?

EDIT
if i were to add another radiator(the same as the first one), but make it fanless, would that make any difference? the radiator i will be using is a XLR120 equivalent.

Oh I don't know. I think you'll find that your temps will max out around 60-65, which is semi risky. You could look into passive rad alternatives, but that may proove big & (sometimes) pricy. I myself am just now trying out the rad a made today, and it seems not to shabby. T-bird 1.2 heat factory & GF4, maxi jet 1200, and this huge "rad" made out of copper tubing, and it maxes out at 41 after several hours. And the best part: it only cost me about $10.

I use a twin 120mm setup and I run my two Panaflo low speed 120mm fans @ 7v like you mentioned and it is almost silent and the performance is so good I never swith them over to 12v. I got mine from http://www.jpiperformance.com

Wow great to see someone liked my Chieftek mods!

http://www.jpiperformance.com/bigredscoop.jpeg

They even recommend the same heatercore, the same tower and the exact postitions I used.

Still you'd have to be a moron to pay $68 for that XLR120, its a $28 retail heatercore painted a funny color. They don't even do a good job on the barbs.

It's the american way Redleader. Some don't want to be bothered attaching barbs or painting ect. They just want to plug and play. And that makes them the rightfull prey of he who will do it for them.......at $40 a rad profit of course.

And just what do ya think the profit margin is on that sheet metal shroud?

I've got a rad in mind that with a acrylic shroud will cost around $36.00 for both, and will out perform that XLR 120 + Scoop rad.

I've never left my PC on more than 12 hours but I rarely, if ever use my radiator fan. (TBred 2400+ @ 2200MHz)

With just evaporation and the radiator my CPU tempature hits 45°C after being on for 10 hours. At the rate it was going, I would be surprised if it would exceed 55°C.

You could drop the voltage to the fan to 3v for silent operation at night. That airflow is enough to keep my CPU at 38°C while I surf or about 36°C if it is just sitting there.

Bare in mind that my water system cools my video as well.

You have a few things to consider:
1. CPU Type: TBred/Pentium4 run a bit cooler than Palimino/TBird
2. Resivour size and type
An open air res will keep the tempatures a lot cooler due to evaporation at the suface. Also a bigger res means the tempature changes more slowly and has a potentially larger surface area for evaporation.
3. Radiator size
4. Will CPU Idle work? If you don't have an NForce2 motherboard but use an AMD CPU, then CPU Idle could be just what you want. People report that it takes the idle tempatures down to nearly room tempature.

You could consider having the PC go into sleep mode at night. The PSU still runs but the CPU produces next to nothing in terms of heat. It takes my system about 35 seconds to wake up from being asleep.

Got a link or a model number to where I can find that HC for $28? Just wondering how I can save some cash on a rad big enough for 2x120mm fans.
