Default Need Help!!!

Im trying to recover some files from a hard drive that has WinXP on it. I have tried slaving the drive and I cannot get into the MYDocs folder that I need to get into. Tells me that Access is denied. I cannot boot into the drive as the OS on the drive is corrupted. Any ideas would be helpfull any security hacs or whatever, Thanks in advance

Get a Windows 2000 Professional disk somehow. When you boot into recovery console on it, it bypasses all WinXP security.

Nice trick, eh?

there IS a way around the mydocs thing. it's a real pain in the ass, i'll try and see if i can find it. you have to swim through all kinds of crap to retake ownership. had to do that once reinstalling, i keep all mydocs on seperate drives. learned that the hard way, when you reinstall, move your mydocs back to its original location (but not the files), it will release the permissions on your directory, usually. then you don't have to spend 6 hours trying to reclaim your permissions. it is possible to do in xp tho. i just can't remember how
