Default Help me chose a waterblock...

I don't mean to start a big debate, but I am stuck on which waterblock to get. I was thinking of making my own, but waterblock design seems a little too complicated for a good performer and I don't have enough free time.

Will be cooling dual XP 1700+s @ 2400+ or so. Mobo has the four mounting holes, but the blocks can't be too big. I'm using the Ehiem 1250 pump with 1/2" tubing, a bay res resevior, and a Chevette heatercore with 120mm fan.

My choices are:
1) Swiftech MCW5000 - uses socket latches, that's nice. Unsure about the open chamber and thick base plate, but seems to perform ok (from the few reviews I've seen).
2) Dtek TC-4 - well recommended, though unsure since it doesn't have the inlet over the CPU
3) DangerDen Maze3 - haven't read up much on the Maze3 actually.

the socket latches on the mcw5000 look kinda crappily attached IMO atleast

im pretty sure that those perform about equally, go for the cheapest one or purdiest

I think he's just saying it's a bit too complicated for him to produce a good performer. And, I know that, for me at least, while I may be able to figure things out alright (kind of), as soon as I get tools in my hands, I end up in the hospital, so Waterblock design is too complicated for me to produce a good performer.

On another note, IMIO (in my ignorant opinion) you should pick whichever has the least pressure drop since I imagine you will be running the two in series.

Nah Swiftech are every well made ..I love the socket latches..

I see no need to have to use the 4 mounting holes around the socket to mount a water block or a heatsink

Exactly. I don't have the time or money to waste on experimenting with multiple block designs. And I don't want to take up my dad's time (dad can program/mill them out on a CNC). I want something that performs decent and not risk running crappy, and I'm starting to think my designs will run crappy (or only half decent).

My opinion; go for the TC-4. The water does not have to come in over the core in order for it to preform "well". You should be more than happy.

No matter what blocks you decide to get though, I would recommend splitting the 1/2" from your 1250 to (2) 3/8" and running the blocks in parrallel.
