tygon is the best out there but some places have been claiming that ClearFLEX 60 is just as good as Tygon and cheaper too. can anyone attest to that claim?
thanks |

I'm sitting here with 12 feet of tygon I just got and some clearflex.
It's the 1/2" ID r-3603 Tygon and just std. 1/2" ID Clearflex. The clearflex is slightly blue tinted, the tygon is not. The Tygon is softer and easier to form, but a whole lot easier to kink. The clearflex is virtually impossible to kink as it's hard. I think it really depends. The softness of the Tygon means it will put less pressure on barbs and all that. But you have to be more careful about kinking. Take your pick. |

There are equivalent formulations of Tygon and Clearflex, and are close enough in quality and performance that you'd be hard pressed to tell which is which, unless you look for the bluish tint of the Clearflex. For instance, the Tygon R-3603 is equivalent to Clearvlex 60, while Clearflex 70 is equivalent to Tygon B-44. In any case, these equivalent formulations have the same bend radii, same hardness, elongation, etc. My advice would be to buy which ever is cheaper. Also, when comparing tubing it is vital to compare only tubings of the same ID and OD, as the wall thickness is very important in determining what sort of bends the tubing can take without kinking.

Run either long enough and they get a tint to them from the copper. Just get which ever is easier/cheaper.

I like clearflex. Much easier to work with, IMHO, and just a bit more durable.
Did I mention that it's cheaper as well?
