command and conquer red alert

you read it right i want to play the game against some of my buddies, only thing is it wont run in windowsxp (which im currently running) i dont really want to have to dual boot so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to get it too work in xp. i tried running it on a friends computer (which has win98) and connectining thorough the westwood multiplayer site crap to play agianst the kid but windows keeps telling me i got an illegal operation, any ideas?

I've run it under WinXP Pro with no problems at all, and I didn't have to do anything special to make it work ... I just installed it and it worked. Are you sure you don't have other system problems?

Wait ... I didn't use the online multiplayer function ... could it be that you possibly need a patch for that? I would check that possibility first.
