Default iroc409 is BACK, baby, and ordering my new computer tonight!

yep.. haven't been around lately. not that i don't love this place, i find it the best computer-related msg board around. this place r0x0rz. but i've been _very_ busy lately. kinda sucks, but watching the $$ roll is nice.

anyways, ordering some new toys tonight. nothing extremely fancy, but something to build a decent foundation to play with.

getting a 2400+, abit at7-max2, 1gb pc2700 kingston (it was on sale... being cheap for now), 120 & 80 gb wd 8mb cache (already have 1 100gb 8mb cache), new dvd rom, and i'm _finally_ getting me a lian-li case. going for the pc-60 now w/ usb 2.0 ports, instead of the 6070. saving up some cash for a couple trips to both sides of the country this summer, so i gotta keep it in check. also picking up a copper zalman flower for the cpu.

i already have a yamaha 44x burner, sb live platinum, logitech mx700 and radeon 9700, so keeping that stuff. and my suave samsung 955df & klipsch promedia 4.1's.

figured later i'd throw in some corsair xms and go to town on it, but this should be an improvement for now.

just lately i've been doing a lot more design work, and my machine seems to be dragging lately. that and i'm starting to bust into video editing, and i just need more. especially more hdd space.

another new thing is i'm keeping some $$ around to be investing in MAC. yes, yes, i know, MAC BAD. however, not for me. i'm getting real tired of the M$ license structure and business practices, so i'm in the process of moving my dependancies away from it. yes, most likely keep it around, but not _depend_ on it. going to go to FreeBSD for my PC desktop, and mac for my design work. the nice thing about that is the new 1ghz titanium with 17" screen and built-in dvd-r. with that i can work from anywhere, anytime, as long as i have a nice mouse with me

so, this machine will probably stay the gaming machine, or switch it over to FreeBSD when the time comes to invest in a hammer. still gotta keep a good machine around for games, of course!

not sure how well that memory will overclock, so i'm kinda on the fence about trying it out. i need to keep the machine reliable. it gets me the scrill. but, i'll prolly try it out and see what happens. should be a bit of an improvement though!

keep the goods rollin. if anyone needs any design, hit me up.

We are going to make somebody happy.

I'm just starting to get parts around for a new system myself.

It sounds like you will have your system up and running well ahead of mine though. I'm just starting to order parts, and still making up my mind in part what those parts are going to be.

Good luck with your system, sounds like a good one.

Since OSX has been implemented, the Mac has become a viable machine.

And since my favorite game (Nascar Racing 2003 Season, by Papyrus) has been released for the Mac platform, it has become even more viable.

However, since I'm a Windows programmer, and that particular job puts beens on the table, I won't be switching over any time soon (unless I sell my motorcycle).

i hear ya, being a windows programmer and all. that's what the unix box is for, programming

but, mac still has a pretty good hold on the graphics and design industry, and that's what sends me my beans. sure, i could use windows, but it's just getting to be a little much . the titaniums have me really pumped. i like the idea of working anywhere anytime, on design work

i see my check just cleared my bank, so i gotta go order my parts now
