Default My WC PC w/ 6 Foot Clear PVC Bong and Lighting Effects.

Well here it is. My pride and joy. My dream come reality.

http://pcdb.overclockers.com.au/view...zar1&page=pics

I had to build something that was a least a bit original. I already have ideas for a new and improved design. But I think I will wait a bit before talking on a new venture.

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks.

Most bong setups end up being ugly as sin, but I do have to admit: that is one gorgeous piece of work. Hopefully it works as good as it looks.

Here is a screen shot of my max temps. I think it works pretty good. I have the Tbird 2000+ "A" that has heat problems and has always run pretty hot, so I am happy with what I am getting.

I know I know... PC Probe = Ewwww. However I am using it right now because I like the way it graphs the Temp and I am compiling the data to see if improvements I am making are having a impact.

An I should have called this thread My Evaporative Cooling Tower, as bong really is a word the more suitably fits those ugly setups.

Amazing. Does it make your room noticably more humid?

Also, where did you get six continous feet of clear PVC? Most places only ship 1-2ft segments.

No it does not make my room noticably more humid, it only burns through 2/3 - 3/4 gallons of water every 24 hours of continous running.

Im actually still tweaking it out to get the best cooling possible, running my CPU and NB blocks in parallel helped.

I'm also building a external radiator for it for travel purposes. I am considering hooking this up to my bong right before the line to the shower. I figured I'd see how water cooled to room temp before applying evaporative cooling effects the system.

In addition I plan on insulating the feed line to the computer to reduce any temp change in the line due to running through 6' feet of exposed tubing. Although the rubber hosing is a pretty good insulator.

As far as the tubing, I found 2 sites, one sold in 5' the other in 10' but you had to cut it down to 8' or less to ship UPS.

www.usplastics.com is the link that I used.

Nicely finished off!. One question though: Is the spray hitting the sides of the tube?, it looks like it from one of the pics. You said you added more holes since the pic?. Is it still (or even) hitting the sides instead of staying as spray/droplets all the way down?, cause you loose some performance when it hits the sides...

Stupid question: Where does the water go after it evaporates? I can't really tell from the pics.

Fixed it since the picture you saw, but some of the water does hit the sides and there is no way I have found to fix it cascading down 6'.

It evaporates out the top, its open up there.

I flattened out the 'hole plate' in my showerhead (rubber watering can top with 'hole plate' made of brass £1.99 @ gardenshop, different sprays available from 'mist' to 'heavy rain'). When it was very~slightly concave <( instead of <) it made a very straight stream of droplets...

What are you using as a showerhead?...

I currently have 2 different ones. One is the head off a miracle Grow fertilizer caniter. It works really well but it is slightly bowed and made of plastic so Im not sure if there is anything I can do about it..

I have another one off a garden irrigator. This has over 200 holes so I had to block some off. However it is made out of tin and I may be able to concave it.

Im going to look into it this weekend.

It was a bitch to flatten!. Best way would be to press it over the entire area somehow. Drive over it in a truck quickly!! . I used a lump hammer and it has a few fine 'creases', though it's still very workable. It's easy to make a flat thing curved: you just stretch the metal. Unstretching it is a bitch ...
