1. the card was not modified, the nb block leaked on it, and its burned on the part that slides into the agp port, yeah there is a small black mark on it

i spilled some water on my radeon 9500 pro a few months back that leaked off my cpu block. the card started acting really funny (i had previously killed my geforce3 under similar circumstances) so i sent the card to ati (note: the card worked, it just had really strange striping and color issues). ati had the card back to me in about 3 or 4 weeks and said that nothing was wrong with it. they did, however, clean the card (im not sure how, assuming some sort of chemicals because there was white residue on the card from my coolant). the card worked fine when i got it back.

my suggestion would be to send it to them, you never know.
