Default Closed loop or reservoir ?

Well, the topic is the question. What's the interest of having a reservoir inside the loop ?
I know, with a reservoir you can easily fill up your water circuit. But apart from this point i dont see the use of any kind of tank in a water cooled computer..... Please enlighten me

the bigger your coolant reserve, the longer it'll take to change the ambient temp. Think of it this way; put a soldering iron in a 10oz cup of water, and you'll heat the thing up fairly quickly. Chuck the same iron in a swimming pool and you'll probably never affect the temp. 2 Extremes, but you get the point. There are advantages and disadvantages to both setups. I'm of the opinion that if you're generating large amount of heat at the waterblock (as in a pelt setup), then a larger reseviour would most likely give you better results than a closed loop system. If you're chilling the coolant, then it'd probably be more effective as a closed loop system.

Advice? Read all the online articles that you can get your eyeballs around...

My current setup is an Eheim pump, Hayden 10"x5" rad with 2 120mm Nidec TA450DC's, Swiftech MCW462 in a closed loop system. Runnin a D800 at 140x9 and the proc occasionally spikes at 98f, but stays around 86f at the top of the die.
