Pelt Preload Method

Can I use torque and the pitch angle of the screws between the cold plate and the waterblock to set pelt preload?

I have a teflon washer under the head of the button heads, and I can lubricate the threads. I will have to build a torque wrench small enough...

How is everybody else doing it?

First, it would extremely helpful if you would lap the peltier. IMHO they all have horribly uneven surfaces which will [edit] increase even further the inefficiency of the pelt.

I have not used a torque screwdriver simply because I did not have one. I belive pelts call for 200 pounds per sq inch.

What I did was to tie the screws slowly and evenly, making sure I always shifted to next screw diagonally opposed. It's working like a charm achieving between 20 to 25 C below below ambient temperature (what ever unscientifically may be).

OK thanks, I will look at the flatness. I am going to try and hit the manufacturer's spec'd preload, but I still want to know how other people are doing it.
