I'm kinda instrested in getting me a Yeong Yang cube
![]() ![]() Now the main thing that worries me is: will i be able to use standard 46cm (18") to reach the two upper hd cages? Also I don't really want to mod it, i've modded my HQ08 a few years ago and i'm not so good at it ![]() ![]() Another thing is there's no exaust at the mobo's side and no real intake at the hd side, how will the temps be in the default state like the case now is compared to the chieftec DA01-WD that i got now. Maybe it would be better to let the hd fans blow in too? Or would i be better of taking the YY-0420/0430, but then again that one doesn't have the hd cages wich i need. |

To be more precise, would i be able to reach the upper, lower and middle hd rack with the ide connector closest to the mobo?

I don't think an 18" IDE cable would make it to the upper HD rack, or if it did it would be at the very limit of the cable with no slack on the cable at all, i'm using 24" IDE cables on mine, it's a much better fit.

I've been measuring a bit on a few of the pics linked in other threads and it seems that i might reach the upper bays with a 18" cable.
Also it think I might be able to reach the bottom rack with the cable fro the pci raid controller that I got but not the second from the bottom wich is a problem ![]() The da01-wd I got now is a nice case but it's a hassle if you want to replace a fan in the hd cage, because I got to rip out both cages to get one out and then i got to remove all the hd's to finally get to the fan ![]() |

Well, considering the case isn't but 14 inches tall, you souldn't have a problem. I'm using a 12-inch cable to reach the upper-most 3-inch drive bay on mine.
If you're talking about the hard drive bays on the back of the case, a 24-inch may work out better, but for the front bays, an 18-inch is more than sufficient (that's what I'm using for all the front 5-inch bays.

I have this case, allbeit in a much modded form.
How it's "suggested" to be fitted with fans, is to have a side 92mm intake on the mobo side *blowing at the processor/gpu*, exhausted with a 120mm fan in the front (blowing out obviously). On the drive side, 92mm fans blowing in *from the back, over the HD's* and merely exhausted by air moving over to the mobo side and leaving with the 120mm fan, and through air pressure pushing out the empty 5 1/4" bays (they are vented). In other words, it's a pretty crappy setup, stock. However, the guide here on making a "Black Ice" or whatever it was called, has a much better way of going about it. All it takes is a bit of work with a dremel. Even if you did what Wahoo Computers did, you'd be having a case that breathes much easier.

Hmm that's a very intresting idea, I've been constantly thinking about moving the air from the front to the back and out but I hadn't thought of trying it in the opposite direction
![]() The only problem I can see with a setup like that is that the cdrw won't get any airflow through it like it normally pulls a little bit of air in it to cool the drive. I do have a dremel but I don't want to cut in the case or mess it up (also my health doesn't allow it atm to do some modding on it) altough the front intake is pretty restrictive. I'm thinking about ordering the case but I first have to find something to put it on since I don't want the case on my desk ![]() |
