9% increase in speed by a IDE cable hahahahahaha.. wow thats so stupid its sad

I wonder if 9% was part of the agreement befor ethe review, or if the writer just made that up on the fly

9% wouldn't be an unreasonable improvement over extra length rounded cables actually.

The reason is there is error checking; any packet that gets an error due to interference has to be resent. So a carefully set up cable like that one there will give you an improvement. That much of an improvement however, would imply very poor cables.

yeh I mean if you were running some 40 pin cables on ATA133 or something I could see a big improvement.. but I havent seen performance differences between the "higher end" cables or the cheap ones in benchmarks I have done on disk arrays for DVE work... thats why I am questioning how legit this is.

Is it just me, or the "review" doesn't state clearly the lenghts of the cables tested ? Can't seem to find it.

Testings a 90cm cable versus a 48cm cable , makes big difference. 48cm is the maximum lenght given by the IDE standards to a error free (well, acceptable error) communication within channels.

I actually have (but not installed) a 90cm round cable, and it performs worse than my 48cm standard 80c ribbon cable.

They LOOK sweet.

That's all I have to say about it anyways. No Hardrive uses the maximum bandwith stuff for the cables to warrent the purchase on a performance standpoint.
