Real quick question.. I'm planning on building a new rig and was wondering how many watts should I get the TEC at? I'm planning on purchasing an Enermax PSU, 650 W with 20A at 12V. Most likely, I'll also have 2 CDROM drives and 2 HD's running an Athlon 1.333.
Also, what about the 451 W PSU? That one has 15A at 12V. Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated! (also, I plan to water cool the TEC...) |

TEC wattage really depends on what you are going to cool with it, then you can see if the PSU will drive it.

I've suggested this a few times.
get a maze2.2, get 2 156watt pelts, run 1@12V and the other @5V. that 650W will be able to handle both pelts that way + your system. Let us know what temps you get. overclock-supercool

I am quite a newbie when it comes to pelts, so I have a few questions:
1) peltiers come with bare wires, so what do i do? (silly question.. I am dumb =D ) 2) how would I run the two pelts on different volts? Thanks for any help! |

1) grab a spare connector and wire the pelts to it (or buy a connector at radioshack)
2) to run @12V, wire to the yellow and black wires, to run @5V, wire to the red and black wires. |

I was looking into a Danger Den kit which includes a 1250 Eheim pump (I think), a Cooling Cube, and the Maze-2 water block. Now.. how would I fit two TECs?
And, how is the kit itself? |

just came from dangerdens site, the maze2.2 won't fit 2 48mm (156watt) pelts.
too bad. you could get 2 80 watt and get slightly better than a single 156. or you could get 2 172 watt pelts but you'd need 24V. |

Do you have some old AT power supplies around... if not you can get some for mighty cheap.. Procooling has a great article on how to wire up power suppplies in series and in parallel. The 120Watt 24V peltiers are only 8 amps. Two 300W AT supplies running in series should be able to supply that. ie Two 12V lines at 8 amps in series make 24V at 8amps.... HOWEVER. like the article says.. do not attempt to do this if you're not sure what you are doing.... get a knowledgable friend to help you out.

Hm... two 80 W peltiers sound interesting. But, I have little to no knowledge of wiring, so I'd like to stay away from having to use two PSU's. I guess it sort of boils down to this question:
With a 650 W Enermax with 20A at 12V, can I even consider a TEC and water cooling or should I just use water cooling by itself and buy myself a 431 W PSU (far cheaper!)? You guys have been a great help! Thanks! |
