Default AMD A64 release party

I don't know if anyone else did this off the www.area-64.com website but I did and I just got a phone call from AMD setting this up.

Good I hope they didn't get hacked and that its a joke cuz I had to hand over the credit card number to pay 640 for the cpu, mobo and ram (and airline tickets and hotel and whatever else is going on.)

Anyone else get called??

I know for sure there is a price involved (640) as the area-64 site proclaims that in the beginning. I just hope they aren't using a unix box with that new SSH hole and lost my data

Claiming prizes: If you receive a game play with a winning message, you will receive an electronic copy of a prize claim form, and may receive an affidavit of eligibility, a liability and advertising/publicity release (depending on prize won). Print out and complete all the forms and follow the instructions provided for returning the forms. You should keep a photocopy of all documents for your records. Potential winning game plays are subject to verification by independent judges whose decisions are final. All prize claims must be received by September 30, 2003. Winners of prizes that have a retail value of $600 or more will be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility, liability and publicity release within 7 business days after receipt of such forms. Tennessee residents need not sign the publicity release. In the event of noncompliance with these Official Rules, if the entrant cannot be contacted at the address on his/her prize claim form, if notification is undeliverable, or if potential prize winner cannot be contacted for any reason, prize will be forfeited. Only properly claimed prizes will be awarded.

Thatas all i could find . It doesn't seem like that phone call is legit dude. I haven't heard of anyone having to pay for this stuff.

the email they sent on wed @ 1230 EST says that you need to call them w/ your credit card number. Since the flight is on sunday I assume they called to get it rolling quickly incase they had to find a replacement person.

why would any of us care how the latest new processor performs?

yes, of course we'd like to see the new benchmarks. Judging by your timeline, your planning on sleeping wednesday night, working thursday, and then sleeping thursday night too. all of those are a waste of time; skip them and get the benchmarks up at 4 AM thursday morning. Then, you should get a waterblock rigged up and give us overclocked benchmarks by friday night.

hhehehe

I'm assuming I can sleep on the plane wednesday evening, get home and get the girlfriend off to work (she gets to go too since those nice people at AMD sent 2 tickets) and then I get down to work.

I guess I can wait a LITTLE while and bench it on air. It depends if Cathar has my A64 poly top done and shipped to me by then. =)

I just looked a little deeper and it says we are getting an Asus nForce3 mobo. The only Asus NF3 out there is the SK8N which is a Socket940 board.

Does this mean I'm getting a Athlon64 FX-51 processor with it???

I'm not completely up on the NF3 situation, especially not the Asus front (I'm an Abit geek) so any input and insight would really rock.

Prepare to buy registered ECC memory, dude. Teh sux, eh? BTW, congrats ... for what you're paying you are getting the sweet deal of the decade.

By the way, I would have given my left nut to have won that. Lucky bastid.

well, part of the deal is a gig of memory. But I don't relish the thought of having to get more.

I'm wondering if there might be a different (not yet released) S940 NF3 that uses standard ddr and it more suited for the FX series.
