Default 12v water pump-interesting

Hey all, I haven't posted much here, just read and leeched all the good info from all you water cooling guru's (thanks for that by the way).

I found a very kick ass 12v water pump that flows 240gph and only uses 3A constant. This pump is off of a Dodge Durango, sounds funny I know but check it out. I have procured one of these through my parts dept. Its made by Bosch and has a Mercedes symbol stamped on it. Diamler-Chrysler thing kicking in i guess, but I have had this thing running for 3 weeks now and its great. Totally quiet, self-priming and its 12v so it doesn't mess with my crt.. I have done some searching and only found one resource on this pump. The Bosch number is Bosch PA 66 - GF 30. The pa number is the motor and the ga number is the pump housing. The link I found with a pic is here:

http://www.metricmind.com/water.htm

For some reason that link has specs for the pump, but the pic is incorrect. They show two different pumps in the list. The correct pic is the one for the jabsco. Its relatively small.

Well If you have any questions, I will try to answer them. I could be a little more specific on where to get these pumps and some prices, I think it would be possible to get them from a salvage yard for next to nothing. Steve.

They also had a flow graph on that page as well, but I have no idea how to read it or what it means, I'm sure billa would though, check it out here:

No I recognize that one. That is the Jabsco.

I think this is the Bosch.

Cost is a much needed item in this thread! Size is great.

Joemac the first pic you had is correct. It looks just like that one. My cost on these pumps is 75.00 new. I am pretty sure I can get at least a few locally from salvage yards. I will look into it and let you know. I can post some pics of the one I have a little later.

2.1m H2O deadhead (assuming the higher curve is relevant),
only 2/3 of the MCP600's capability
similar current draw
hard to get Bosch pumps at good prices

at 2/3rds the flow and from a junk yard, that could be quite a deal. Frankly, I have no need for the flow of the swiftech model for my single block. Time to call the junk yards! Do we know what year of durango those came out of?

bout time somebody asked. Ok, this is kinda specific. This pump was only used on a 2001 Durango with rear heat and air. The pump is used as a helper pump for the engine pump, due to the rear heater core being mounted over head in the headliner. The 2002 models have a redesigned rear heaterbox that does not require the helper pump. 2000 model year did not have rear heat, just rear a/c. The only year that a Durango had this pump was 2001. I have many salvage yard contacts and on Monday I will try to find as many of these pumps as possible.

can you share about what you can get them reasonably from a salvage yard.. oh.. and where abouts are they located on the vehicle? I am a -0- understanding of vehicles.

If I can locate them locally I figure 20 bucks.?! The pump is located under the hood on the passenger side fender well, near the right hood support. Pretty easy to remove. Dodge uses spring clamps and the inlet and outlet are 5/8ths.

The only thing is the liftime. The Jabsco is listed as 2500 hours, thats only 100 or so days if left running continuously...

Here's another pic of the Bosch pump:

Pretty similar to the Jabsco, really.

As far as lifetime goes: don't take it too literally. StepBack uses a Jabsco and he's known them to last a lot longer than that. Still, the Bosch sounds very good for the price.

Still, the Johnson CM10P7-1 and CM30P7-1 both have brushless magnetic motors too, so there's another alternative.
