I use my computer as a stereo alot and sometime I want it to shutoff after x amount of time ie when I go to bed or if I'm in and out alot, are there any programs that do this, or a way to set it up in windows?
the only way i have to do it now is in nero there's an option to shut down when burning is complete, and then set the speed at 1 or 2x.... looking for an easier way so I don't run out of cd's ( i know I could use rw's but then i'd have ot find one...) thanks alot |

Add scedualled task and point it to a .bat file that tells your computer to shut down(bound to be one) and set the time for two hours hence or so.

You could probably set up a Scheduled Task to start a program like pskill.exe (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/pskill.shtml
This would be fairly simple. Bob

Why not just let the computer run all night? Mine hasn't been shut down for over a month. It helps heat the room at night. I'm in a dorm in Fargo, North Dakota though, so I need the heat up here.

I think because if you leave your radio on all night while it make help you GET to sleep if it is left on all night you get CRAZY DREAMS. I can testify to this.
I would just find a plugin for winamp and have a "timer switch" on it to fade it out after X min (bound to be one) ~ Boli An no my computer(s) are never switched off.

get an r/c car servo, hook it up to a kitchen timer countdown. then set the timer for xxx minutes, and when it hits 0, it pushes the power button on your speakers and shuts them off

(before) I use shutdown program.
Now I don't use it anymore, but the 9x version worked very well, and they released a NT/2000/XP version I haven't tested ![]() |

If you are using XP, just open a command prompt (start | Run | cmd | enter), and type this in, replacing the X with the number of seconds you want it to run for before it shuts down (one hour would be 3600 seconds)
tsshutdn X /powerdown Yes - the tsshutdn command is built into XP Pro. I haven't tried it on home, but it should be there too. Or if you just want it to happen at a set time eg. 1:00 AM, create a scheduled task to run "tsshutdn 1 /powerdown" at that time. |
