Default Regedit files in w2k/Xp?

What are the regedit files in w2k/xp?

I mean, in win 98 its user.dat and system.dat, but i dont know wich is it at this new winblows versions.

You're looking for the registry .dat files for the current_user, that would be in you Doc&Settings\<username>\ntuser.dat

As for the system.dat, I have no clue. It could be in the system32 directory, but that's just a guess. Remember to have you Folder Options set so you see hidden files and file that are protected. Hope this helps.

P.S. - run regedt32 to open them. Select HKLM and then open hive from the File menu at the top.

There are also a bunch of registry hives in the C:\winnt\repair directory that were created when you first installed Windows. More info is always better than none.
