How much more MHz will a pelt get me?

Okay, I'm a newbie to pelts/water cooling, and am considering getting a 156W pelt and a water cooling kit from www.dangerden.com . I've read up on water/pelt cooling and ask for advice in another forum, infact one person who gave me advice told me to go to this website, but I was wondering if I will really get THAT much more out of my CPU with a peltier. I have an Epox 8K7A+ on the way and I know a place that sells AYHJAR Y AMD CPUs. My dilema is, is it worth the $300+ on a water cooling system if I will only get just a little bit more out of my CPU compared to your standard HSF? (In my case I plan on getting a Swiftech 462A or an Alpha PAL8035). I know you guys have more experience in this than me, so lay down some advice, let me know just how much more MHz you go with your pelts and is it worth spending $300+ on a water/pelt system vs. $60 to $80 on a Swiftech MC462A or Alpha PAL8035 HSF with Delta 80mm fan. A 156watt pelt really isn't enough to cool a 1.4+Ghz AMD Cpu that well. ( only will give at the most 50 watts of cooling as the CPU itself will be puting out around 100watts of heat)

with a 172watt pelt and a good cooling system you can get the core down in the 0C range at idle if not much below.

But how many Mhz? Depends on the core but with air cooling it seems 1.6Ghz is about the limit for air cooling on the 1.4Ghz chips. With a Pelt/water you could prolly get into 1700+ It all depends on the cooling system, Pelt, and how well you assemble the system. With a good VMod you can prolly take the 1.4 to 1.8+Ghz if you had a good running system and were at like 2.2VCore.

Well if I could get enough extra MHz to get 2GHz out of my 1.4GHz then I would think its worth the extra $300+ for the water/pelt. The reason I'm saying 2GHz is because I read a report at www.athlonoc.com about the new AYHJAR Y stepping, and they tested 20 1.4GHz Athlons and the average OC on them with a OCZ Gladiator HSF was 1.7GHz highest was 1.84GHz, so I was hoping that pelts/water would get me the extra boost I need to hit 1.9/2.0GHz. Do you think that a 172W pelt/water cooling system will give me enough extra MHz to hit this goal, or this is an impossible goal? Thanks.

Do not trust anything you read on AthlonOC that talks about anything with CPU's or OCZ stuff. Youknow AthlonOC and OCZ are the same group of people.

you can buy a good heatsink and fan and make your rig do what you want it to

today's cpu is already running fast and almost maxed out from da box .

peltiers make alot of heat , i mean you just cant imagine how much heat comes out of those raditors from the peltier.

and the cooling fans that it takes to remove the massive amount of heat from your computer, makes more noise then your og fan setup.

i mean no really my cpu temp was @ -9c
but the heat coming out my raditors ,you could almost bake a pie.

and if your thinking of just adding water with out the peltier .

forget it water can only keep your cpu at room temprature.


and if you need help from these guys buy some of their products and come back and ask
for some help lol.

ps make sure you buy from these guys here you will get alot better help and advise faster maybe. but make sure you do alot of reading on this stuff if you have not already.

i was to late i didnt do any research on peltiers and watercooling i just saw some awesome watercooled rigs and i snapped and started ordering chit.

and even after i did all the research
i never read anything about the massive amount of heat .

i thought my video card was gonna melt omg not my geforce 3 lol . so i just said maybe ill have to add a pelt or a block of ice.

but that might have added more heat if i added another pelt lol

Actually, I just saw the numbers for the OC data at www.athlonoc.com , I plan on ordering my CPU from another place.

Ghz:
Care should be taken when looking at high wattage peltiers. Not because they won't displace the rated amout of heat, but many require 24Volts D.C. Power Supplies.

Most PC based TEC's are 16V Peak 12.5V nominal. Best run at 13.8V bench power supplies or single Voltage integrated switching power supply.
