Default AMD Barton 2500 NOT a 2500?

Hey, I just got my new computer up and running. It was really easy thanks to you guys and all the help you offered, but I do have one question. On the newegg website it says that the Barton 2500 is 1.83 Ghz, but when I boot up and whenever I check under 'system information' it says that its only running at 1100 MHz, NOT the 1.83 GHz that its said to run at. Does anyone have any input on this? any ideas about what it is?
Thanks guys,
Josh

Sounds like you need to change the FSB to 133mhz or whatever the default FSB is for that CPU.

Odd place for this post. . .

11X multiplier * 100 FSB = 1100 MHz.

11X multiplier * 166 FSB = 1833 MHz.

moved it and glad to see question already answered.

And here I thought native 2500+ speed was 11x200 (that's as slow as mine ever has run)

There is at least 2 speeds for the 2500+, 133FSB and 166FSB. I am not sure if there ever was a 200FSB version or not.

yeah, I've got a 2500+ off the side that running OCed at 11x200 also. Never EVER dared to slow it down to stock.

The 3200+ is 11x200. The 2500+ is 11x166. If you have a 200 FSB 2500+ it has been over/reclocked. They never came that way retail. It is a common practice to immediately clock them up to 11x200 because they all should do it at stock/near stock voltages.

I will concure. After searching I found the XP3000+ and up has the 200FSB and the XP2500+ is 133 or 166FSB. At least thats what pricewatch says.

wow it was a joke. My Barton went into my TBred system, and the TBred had been overclocked from 11x133 to 11x200. I just set the Barton to same thing at boot; it never has run stock speed. I later bumped it to 12x200 without incident

That's pretty good for a barton.

I've been impressed with the barton OCs.

Still slower than my FX though.

You diggin' that hammer? I'm loving my baby hammer, and could only imagine how much nicer it would be to have both memory channels ... mmm.

Yeah. Its the fastest damn thing I own despite losing a few Mhz off my watercooled P4 2.8c (OCed to a nice 3.6)

The only thing I'm disliking is the lack of a quality and high speed S940 mobo. The SK8N just doesn't cut it. The hypertransport is nurfed (16 and 8 instead of 16 and 16.)

Oh well, its still new.
