Are there any negative/positive effects of Phase Change cooling one Opteron and water cooling the other? Would one being at -50C and the other being at 15C affect the data transfer along the HyperTransport or affect the life of the motherboard or either processor?

I don't know, but it might not be so cumfy for the motherboard.... having that big of a Dt from the one socket to the other, right next to it...
I would rather retrofit that phase changer into chilling the liquid, and then chill both CPU's to -30 , heck... while I'd be at it, the NB might get some too...

Why would you only want to pelt one and WC the other? I know workload distribution tends to be lopsided but that does not reflect significantly in CPU temps. If you're making the effort you may as well pelt both...
