Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
IT will be Sloooooooooow compared to your 4000. But highly portable.
There are 2 different version of the 1000 to complicate things. Version 1 has the OS stored in flashram like your 4000. So all you have to do is replace the drive. Yours is a v3, so you will need to copy the boot tracks over to the new drive. If you don't have a image file, I would advise doing so, before it craps out. Then burn to a cd for safe keeping. As to size????? There doesn't seam to be any restrictions, that has poped up. So you can drop a 500gig drive in, which I think has already been done. Or you can be the first with a 750gig upgrade. That way it will match your 4000 in capacity.

LOL, I was looking at more like a 250 GB for it. Darn it! I was hoping it would be the lucky "flashram" type. Grrrrr

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Hate to do it, but I'm going to throw up another "me too" post...
I have a Snap 1000 that originally shipped with a 15g quantum drive. I'm assuming it's at least a V2 since it will not boot w/o a drive attached. Hardware ver: 3.1.2 Software ver: 3.4.790 BIOS ver: 2.1.366 If anyone could help me out with a link or something of 3.4.805, I'd appreciate it very much. I'm hoping to stuff a 300 gb or a 500 gb drive in it...or at the very least, get it upgraded to 3.4.805. |

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Register with Adaptec, and request the 3.4.807 OS. They have been sending links with ID and PW info to download the file.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
There is no such file. What are you looking for?
OS v3.4.807, can be had from adaptec if you register with them. Then request the file. Adaptec has been releasing v3.4.807 with out charge on request.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
REALLY! Adaptec is giving away the 3.4.807 .sup file? Are there any 'key words' to use with tech support in getting the file? Can we do it via email support?
Any release notes on what this gives you over 3.4.790? Hell, if their giving it away, can someone post it somewhere? Or do I have to join the "me too" list! tlichten@gmail.com |

Register with Adaptec, Then you can send a request for the v3 file. They in turn will send you a link to their ftp server with ID & PW. Users have reported receiving an email responce in about an hour.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
What I have is a snap 1000 v2 (i think) with dead hdd. Os must be on the hdd, I understand there are 2 models. I have the 2200.bin, but cannot get it to work, Elsewhere on the forum I read that sometimes the 2200 file will work and sometimes you have to have the 1000 file.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
The 1000 are in a world of the own. V1 have the OS stored in flash. V2 has the OS on the HD. But some times they like the 2200 other like the 1000.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Put me on the Me-Too list - would like to get 3.4.805 or 3.4.807 for my v2 2000
S/N: 48K Hardware: 2.0.0 Software: 3.4.803(US) Bios: 2.0.252 Time to upgrade the dual 30GByte drives to 300GBs or so. Tried registering with Adaptec but thier reply was that I wasn't eligeble for support - unit is too old I guess.? Checked out the Pirates thing but can't seem to find anything to download? Any other sources? Also, at what point do you need to update the BIOS? I notice what mine is running is a bit older than what others are running. Any sources for that kind of thing? JELo |

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Register with Adaptec. Then on the support page there is a link for email support. Request the v3 update. They will send a link with login info for your download.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
I don't mean to seem dense but I did register my unit with Adaptec and did attempt to go through the AskUS email support but I wind up at a web page that includes the following:
"The information you have entered indicates that your product is beyond its complimentary support period. Products beyond the complimentary support period are supported on a best effort basis via telephone for a fee." And I can't seem to get to a link to email them from there. This unit is about six? years old. I got it from my employer when they upgraded but it still seems to work just fine, just wanted to put some big drives in it. JELo |

You failed to mention what you are working on. 805 does not work with all snaps.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Can anyone please help me. I thought that I read that the ver 4 resides entirely on the harddrives and that ver 3.4.805 lives in flash. Also can someone send me a link or the file itself for 3.4.805 or .807. I am working on Snap 4000 model. Thanks.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Your data is wrong. The model controls where it resides.
The 4000 resides in flashram.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
I have much the same problem with my 1000 and my 4000. I have a file called "SnapOS_4_0_860_upg.exe" that I acquired a while back from somewhere (Quantum?) but never installed. Recently I decided to upgrade the drives in both my units, but both Assist and the command line upgrade tool tell me that "This file is not a valid upgrade for your server." The three sup files contained in that executable are "Snap_4_x.sup", "snap_jvm.sup", and "snap_ServerSync.sup". I'd be happy to send the file with anyone who thinks it might help them, but in the mean time I'm having trouble finding the correct file to allow my servers to see decent-sized drives.
And as has been mentioned many times on this forum, Adaptec's support (and their website) just plain sucks. Thanks in advance for any help! Dave Klingler |

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Ahhhh, now I think I get it. I'm guessing I might have Adaptec's crippled 4.0.860 upgrade that won't work on machines that don't already have 4.x. I have to get the version up to 4 first.
Unfortunately Adaptec tells me that because I registered my servers a long time ago, I've gone beyond my complimentary support period and I must now pay to email or phone them. I guess I could call up and yell at someone, given that they're actually punishing me for registering my products without first having a reason to ask for support. Lovely people. Anybody have a 4.x image they could email me? Thanks! Dave |
