I know that it would be nice to get GOS 5 happening right now but it will not be possible at the moment, without paying those $$$ and things could change though... (by the way how much?) Can I suggest; Register for a log-in on Overland Storage's web site so you will get their news items - http://support.overlandstorage.com/t....aspx?transid= Do not seek or accept files from anywhere other than when you are registered with Overland Storage, sharing files is not permitted here, it will only hurt this forum if you do! When you do get access to the files you will not only need the GOS 5 Update you will also need to upgrade the version 3.x, then 4.x etc. I don't think you can go from 2.x or 3.x straight to 5.x!

Re: Upgrade GuardianOS on 4400
Hi Darcy, thanks for your quick reply. I am registred on their site and both my 4400 are there with serial number, but the only files i can see is some servicepack files.
The support refuse to speak to me since the warranty of 90 days are gone.... (I just feel this is a very strange situation and wondering at the same time how for exaple HP would survive if they refuse to supply drivers to their customers who bught their hardware) The reason i want to upgrade is that i want to enable iSCSI-support. I thought that you needed the upgrade for that? Last edited by Jollyswe; 10-17-2008 at 02:46 PM. |

Re: Upgrade GuardianOS on 4400
If I recall the 4400 was released with SnapOS and GOS, so make sure yours is GOS. A different size flashram was used between the different OS's. Some of the version had same version release.
Now, if you have the GSU files you can do a new/clean install. This must be done through the recovery console, all data will be lost. There were disk partition size difference between most of the major version changes. So you can not go through the normal upgrade path. Make sure you disable AV and snapshots. Good luck.

Gee-wizz, what planet was that again?

B. Re the Drivers; A driver is very very different to an OS... HP are fine, they will give you free support if you buy enough servers, printers and other gear off them... but your reply is showing your complete lack of intelligence... e.g. 1 I local builder build my house in 2005, but now I want a games room extension but he wants me to pay him 30k to do it? - I don't know how that builder stays in business? e.g. 2 I brought a PC 6 years ago with Windows 95 on it but now Microsoft want me to buy Vista? - I don't know how Microsoft stay in business? e.g. 3 I only just brought Norton's anti virus a year ago and now they want me to pay for access to the definitions for the next 12 months... - I don't know how nortons stay in business? Do you see how silly that sounds? Tell me what is your profession? (I can give you an example that you can understand if you like) C. iSCSI Support; if it is just for you to try, fine, but iSCSI needs heaps of ram and processing power is your 4400 up to it? Others here can help on this one... Anyway, what I was saying is simple; ensure you are registered on Overland's Site and "be patient" if you cannot be patient "pay for it now" Also I understand that it is not cheap to get access? You did not answer the question from my first reply, please kindly tell me how much are they asking you for this service, pls share with us. If you can tell us in your currency of choice that would be great USD, Euro's or Paso's? I can convert at www.xe.com if I need to...
