Despite my system having a catistrophic failure, i will not be deterred. Right now to replace my system in my sig, i have an old soltek mobo and xp1600 running on pc133 (eww). I know the system sucks, but the cool part are my temps.
I really cant check the temp on the vid card (geforce2 gts), but the cpu is running at 86F or 30C at idle. The highest recorded temp ive gotten was 100F but that was when it was really hot in my room and i had the fans down. But weven when they are up high, they are still quiet. When they are on high, the max temp is about 96 when it is hot. havnt gotten a chance to test the max temp when it is cool in the room. In any case this system just rocks. Granted I knew mainly what i wanted, but you guys helped me to get the kinks out of my system and helped me to fine tune it (still in the process). Anyway, I just want to thank you guys. A special thanks goes out to pHaestus for all the reviews he has done. EDIT here are some pics... ![]() ![]() ![]()

Considering you have the room, I would ditch that weak ass shroud for something with at least 1.25" plenum depth.
I would also reconsider the 90 degree elbow on the pressure side of your pump. Other than that, very nice. Come to think of it, I hardly ever see pics of TDX setups...odd. SenC. |

As far as the 90 degree thing goes, it really isnt neccesary to remove it. Regardless of the 90 degree this guy pumps more than any average pump u guys get when its unrestricted. Flow is not really a problem. And about the shroud, it pulls it away enough so that there is no turbulence and its nice and quiet as well as sleaing it quite good. Besides, its one of the few dual heatercore shrouds...
Actually Im gonna get a x800pro vivo and mod it to x800XT. I've lost my trust of nvidia with the fx5800 and they havnt done much since to regain it. Nvidia has "Nvidia, the way its meant to be played" My moto. "ATI. It just runs faster" (as well as not having so many IQ issues. But that is my opinion (partially), so pls dont flame.

I was an ATi fan until this generation of cards. You just get more graphics horsepower per dollar with an Nvidia card this time around. They've taken care of the IQ problems and at the $400 bracket, the GT soundly beats the X800 Pro. The X800 XT is another matter. It's pretty close to the 6800 Ultra and can run DX9 games flawlessly. I don't really care about Doom 3, or any OpenGL based game for that matter, so if I had $500 to spend on a video card, I'd have to say you're right there. But the Bang for the Buck crown has to go to the GT (though Nvidia does pretty much dominate from there down as well - we'll have to see about the X700).

JW, the X800pro vivo can be modded (jsut bios flash) to turn on the 16 pipelines. Its pretty much garunteed. 100's have done it without incidnetnt. It boosts 3d03 about 2 thousand points. And then u can oc it a little bit and make it at the same clocks as the XTPE. Which then makes it about the fastest D3D card on the market. Nvidia still seems to be behind ATI in D3D a bit, even with their beloved far cry (tight game btw). Nvidia may rule opengl, but the last game that i have played in opengl was doom3 and it was the first opengl game ive played in years, the only other being quake3. So opengl is really not an issue. May sound ignornant or stupid, but im a Sound D3d Fan.
Not bashing doom 3 in my post here, but its overrated. Sweet engine, creepy as hell, scary as hell, but that only lasts for 3 days and then its repetive to the max and gets really boring. I lost the will to beat the game... Because of this, it annoys me ppl are like omg get nvidia it plays doom3 better. guess what, doom3 is not the only game ur ever gonna play, and if microsoft has their way opengl would be a smoking hole in the ground.
