1\2" tubing on 3\4" fitting?

I just purchased a 9"x7"x1" Heater core, and it has 3\4" fittings. Would putting 1/2"clearflex in boiling water be enough to make it stretch over the fittings? The tubing is on its way, but I am not sure if it will work with the fittings I have. If it doesnt fit, would shrinking the tube via a pair of pliers then sealing it with epoxy be a somewhat viable approach? I am resistant to getting barbs on it, as it is an aluminum core. I am aware of the corrosion factor of having an aluminum core, and will have a large amount of zinc as a sacrificial annode in my resevoir. But would 1\2" clearflex be able to fit over a 3\4" fitting? Thanks for your help!

Aluminum corrodes sooner than zinc, so it would not be an effective sacrificial anode. You could try magnesium, calcium or lithium, or just use an inhibitor. http://www.efunda.com/materials/corr...t.cfm?sort=com

Lithium in a water cooling loop wouldn't be a good idea.

I was thinking pure sodium, but the problem would be getting it from its kerosine filled storage container to the reseviour. God bless Group 1 metals and their explosive nature with the air we breathe.

Anyway, thank you for your help. Any more "it should work" 's?

Sodium + water = not good. Apparently lithium too.

If you've got a reservoir, you could always drop a couple calcium tablets in it, but why not just head down to Autozone or Pep Boys and buy a brass or copper heatercore for $20? You could get one with 1/2" ID barbs too.
