Hey everyone, ive just registered and will hopefully be spending some time here learning about watercooling. Im in the process off selecting components for my first setup, and would therefore appreciate some feedback/tips or any other constructive comment that would help me along the way. Ill be cooling my processor, a p4 2.8c, the northbridge on my ic7-max3 and my radeon 9700 for now. Ill start by writing down the components im considering:
Blocks: I live in Norway, and norwegian webshops aren't all that big on watercooling..yet ![]() Radiator: Im almost positive ill go with a HW labs black ice extreme 2, but i might go with a double procore aswell. Any opinions on this? Feel free to make other suggestions. Pump: The eheim 1250 is my primary choice, but this this has also been suggested. Microplex , wich i linked to earlier in this thread, sells a few other pumps aswell. Tank: ive looked into both the typhoon dual bay reservoir and an AC Aquatube. It all depends on wich size of tubing and the size of the inlets/outlets on the components i end up with. Im not even shure of the advantages and disadvantages of the different sizings.... Im looking for pretty high performance here, but i dont want to use more money then i need for a high-performing set. It'll all be mounted in a lian li pc-71, and i'd also like suggestions on how to install it (what to place where) if you've got any ideas. Thanks for even reading this post, im looking forward to joining this community and enjoying my 1st watercooling-setup! Regards, Caliber |

The Swiftech, the double Procore, the Eheim and ditch the tank to save money. The Polarflo haven't been shown to perform as well as the Swiftech as far as I know, the double Procore definitely performs better than the BIX2, and the Eheim 1250 is a proven pump where the C-Systems pump hasn't been around for that long. If you can even get one. The Eheim is more powerful anyway. The tank is purely for looks and easy filling and bleeding. It doesn't help your temps at all. Save your money and skip it.

wich swiftech-block are you referring to? Remember; im gonna cool my cpu, gpu and nb, so i would apreciate it if you would recommend some blocks for my gpu and nb aswell. Here's some more questions: 1) Wich hose-dimension do you think i should go for, and why? 2) Will 3/8"-compontents in a 1/2"-setup lower performace considerably? 3) Will the double procore give me any installing-issues in a lian li pc-71? And im not shure if ill go with a tank or not, but if i do, its important that i get an constructive answer on question two above. Any other suggestions? Think i should by a relé-kit for the pump (ehem 1250), since it doesent run on 12v? again; thanks for replying. Regards, Caliber |
