OK, I decided to give WC a shot. I've been working on my very first WC setup, I chose to go external. Here is a shot of the current progress:
Just FYI, not only is this my very first try at watercooling, but I am also building my first homegrown PC. Up until now it has been mostly stock, aircooled Dells and Gateways. Still have boatloads of work to do on both the cooler and the PC (mods, mods, mods, mods, mods...), but hopefully will get it and the writeup done in the not to distant future (as long as I stop breaking the stuff I'm installing). You can see most of the parts in the WC box, the PC will be LGA775/925X based and cooled with a Storm G4 (already sitting on my parts shelf) and Silverprop Fusion HL. It will go into my modded Lian Li PC-V1100B. Stay tuned! ![]() Oh, BTW, can you guess what my favorite color is? Last edited by Jetlag; 10-22-2004 at 11:48 PM. |

Here is a quick shot of the empty case with window mod and one of my helpers.
OK, time to offer my first tip! ![]() To keep myself from totally screwing up my new MOBO (if I can touch it - I will most likely break it), I simply made an actual size color print of it and taped it into the case. Why? Because while I am sleeving, cutting and routing the various cables and wires I can see exactly where they need to go without risking the health of my new expensive MOBO. Also helps to figure out where to cut a couple of small holes in the MOBO mounting tray to help with cooling (and mounting the waterblock). Can't short out the board with metal shavings either! |

The white strip you see is pliable window weatherstripping which completes the seal between the top of the rad and the acrylic box cover. There is also a strip of it on the bottom of the rad. Nothing is perfect, but I can comfortably say that close to 100% of the airflow goes through the rad. |

Yep, I've done that too, to find out the end location of my water block. Turns out I was way off...
