Critique New WC setup pls :)

Hi,

I'm new to these forums. I have been lurking for awhile now (about 2 weeks) and reading everything i can on water cooling. I'm building a new pc soon with the goal of overclocking the processor as much as possible. Below is the configuration I'm planning to use. Please make comments if there is something I can do better. Later on i will be adding a block to cool a 6800GT. All this is going in a mid-tower. I prefer to do all my shopping at one place. As far as the configuration goes I was hoping I could have some help with that.

Thanks

Processor: Athlon64 3000+ socket 939

swap NB block for an mcx159
swap the DD res for a swifty res
swap the hydor for a Liang d4
swap the RBX for the mcx6002, a DDWW or a TDX.

If you care at all about noise:

Nix on the d4. Whiiiinnne. Eheim 1048 or DDC
swap the heater core for a Black Ice pro2, so you can run the fans slower for the same airflow.
Definitely passively cool the NB.

I would also recommend a TDX block if you go Dangerden (although, just to be fair, Swiftech makes some good blocks too). The installation of the RBX is more difficult because of the three hoses (1 inlet and 2 outlet).

Also, don't get the D4 if you like quiet. The DDC (which Dangerden is also carrying) is quite a nice pump. The D4 (even the muffled revision) has an annoying whine. You might lose a degree or four Celsius of cooling by going to the DDC (depending upon the restriction in your loop). However, that is a tradeoff you'd have to make.

The northbridge probably doesn't need to be watercooled (it might easily do well with passive cooling or a very quiet fan on a heatsink). For overclocking, you might benefit.

(edited to add more info)

I don't think that the order makes much difference. Put the components in so that the tubing has less length and fewer bends.

Thanks again for the info!. I updated my parts list. By the way....how do I know what size of accelerator port to use on the TDX?

It depends on how much pump you have and how many blocks you run. I think #1 is best for multi blocks and 4 is best for single block but #4 is so restictive I don't know if it will give you pump probs (if you go with a less powerful one like the 1048). Either way you can always swap things out and report back your finding

Basically, the selection of the port depends upon the flow rate through the CPU block (in liters per minute or gallons per hour or whatever units you prefer). So, it depends mightily on the hose size, the length of hose, the amount and type of bends in your hose, the blocks you use, and the pump you select.

For you, I'd probably select port #1. But, as psychofunk said, try the others out. Let us know what worked for you.
