Default Is it worth it to modify a Koolance Radiator?

hey guys, i know i'm going to get flamed for this but i have a Koolance kit, 2 actually. i got them for a VERY cheap price but now i'm thinking about just modifying the kit to be a 3/8" kit. i like the radiators b/c they're not quite as thick as other rads but the down side is that they're aluminum. well i was wondering if it's worth it to try to modify the Radiators to use 3/8" barbs instead of the 1/4" (6mm). would it be better than my Swift Micro rad? i will be using this w/ a copper block. any input appreciated. thanks!

Being thin is no big deal. In fact, I read an article that said 1"-1.5" is a better radiator thickness for what we are doing because of the low speed fans we use.
I don't know how much changing the barbs would help. That system is made for the small radiator and pumps it has. It is probably designed to give the maximum cooling it can with the size hose it uses.
Most likely, the only way to make it cool better is to upgrade everything (build a bigger and better cooling system if needed).

Just my 2 cents...

No, sorry. I just remember seeing it referenced a couple times in messages somewhere. I finally went and read it. The jist was that the fans made for 2" thick heater cores in cars were powerful and noisy, and that our quiet and slow fans would work better on a thinner radiator.

This is probably where you found it, samualt. Cathar mentioned that 16x16cm cores with a thickiness of about 5/8" to 3/4" are as close to "optimized" a hobbyist can get for low pressure (read: low spead) fans. I know you've seen this thread, bill.
