I'am in the planing phase of building a new watercooling system and I need some advise.
I will watercool my cpu and the nF4-chip (I have the DFI-LanParty and the chip fan is TO loud) so since the nF4-chip is palced under the grafic card and it makes my choice of waterblocks wery small. So I have decided to buy the Alphacool NexXxoS NB-SLI 1 Northbridge http://www.alphacool.de/xt/product_i...&cPath=5_18_21 The problem is that if you take a close look at the channels, you will see it's not directly1/2 diam ![]() My other components: D5 pump - 1 dual Heatercore - 1 singel Heatercore - Alphacool NexXxoS NB-SLI - Unknown cpublock (I haven't decide yet but it looks like it will be the Swiftech STORM Extreme Performance ![]() Pardon my spelling! ![]() |

That looks so restrictive I think I would flow test it before making my final decision. The total flow will be less than what you get with it alone. You can check the flow vs pressure drop curve of the pump and see what is left for the Storm with its curve.
Do some calculating to see if there is a real benefit to going parallel (consider fitting losses. Maybe get a weak pump and run the chip seperately (ungainly and overkill) |

Hmmm I actually have a BIP*120 and a eheim 1248 to spare, but I will have some problems with space sinces I would have to try to put it all in a midtower sized chassi. =\
Can't I set up the two systems and messure witch one that has the higest flow rate?? (The witch one will fill the bucket first thing?) I may be a little inconvenient but sinces I don't realy get the math. You guy's make it seem so simple but to me it ain't. And i haven't realy found any good basic "how to" on flowrates and pressure calculations an so on. |

Your're right about it ain't easy, beren trying to work it out for my system.
And the easy answer is yes when you (I) think it out. As bobo said serial usually works out better, but to be sure testing both ways will let you know which is best. (2 buckets for the parallel loop, as the storm has high resistance, and thats the block you want with most (maybe almost all) of the flow. You may want to pinch the chipset tube (and permanantly restrict) if the chip block flows too much. ( Bobo will probably end up right) I'm using a DDmaze4 chip block in series, very low restriction so no worries. Others have used cut off tall passive northbridge coolers to good effect. The rad fan or a hard drive fan pointed at the chipset will keep things cool enough. An idea anyway. |

Well I have looked for a waterblock for my chipset and it always seems like my grafic card is the biggest problem. I have check out the block from slovenia before and I don't think it will fit.
I have the Asus 7800GTX TOP and it's big. So it leave me with little choice. I have even done the AS5 modd (replacing the original paste on the chipset fan with some AS5) but when I overclock it get hot anyway and then the "wwwiiiiiii" sound come's =\ ![]() |

I was thinking of what GlassMan said and thought it have to exist a extremly small pump. And it does

might be cheaper and easier to sell the board and get new dfi board instead of spending $65 a pop or buying one of these expensive chipset coolers.
It was vogue to do it a year ago but it doesn't matter as much now since you got a new DFI board that is similiar layout to Asus nf4 board. The new DFI board and the new ATi crossfire both perform better. |

I hope you are understanding what I'm try to say.
Last person i flamed and they though it was reasonable to have $1400 invested in 7800gtx 512MB SLI setup. and still went with it. Easier to buy a better and new board. Get a better DD4 chipset and not spend the money on a more expensive DFI chipset/pump/rad combo. It seems you have the resources to do this so reconsider your plans for a second. |

I hear what you say but I think I have got a solution to my problem. That is a bit cheaper than my original solution.
I saw a C-Systems CSP750 Mark II for 37$ so I thought why not let the to system share water. I will run the small loop with chipset cooler and CSP750 pump into the watertank that the Big loop have. In that way I not have to buy a extra radiator. And I just have to drill two extra holes in the tank. This way I will not have the trouble with any chipset block restricings my flow in the future, and can add things like voltregualtions blocks and so on to the small loop. And that the pump can be connected to a 3-pin on the motherboard (maybe the 3 pin fan connector from the chipset fan) and that's just bonus for me. If this is a extremly bad ide just tell me and I will go and buy a new board =) This will maybe be a bit expensive, but for me building and solve the problems is probably the biggest reason I do this. For me it would be cheaper not to buy a water cooling system at all and go for a air chilld system. But it's just so damn fun building and planing and hacking up the chassi to make it all fit that I just can't stop doing it =) Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it! Edit: Will 2 loops sharing watertank cause any problems?? The two loops will looks like below.
