Default New the the Liquidness

Hey everybody!

I'm upgrading my computer soon and I decided to buy a new case (http://www.thermaltake.com/xaserCase.../va8000swa.htm) cause Im cool like that .

But I'm not sure whether or not to stay with air cooling. I was wondering if anyone could explain to me why water cooling (or any other type of cooling) is better or worse than air. Cause I've had friends who had a water cooled system, and one of tubes pretty much exploded and that's like 3 G's down the crapper. Is this a common occurence or should I not worry about it? Some have also told me that the temp drop from water coling is negligable. Also if I do decide to go with water, should I get one of those premade ones or should I build my own? Any help would be awesome.

-Former MWL attender, and happy to see that MWL is going to EG. Wish it could have stayed with Clegg, but hey its still there right?

Nummer one Read some reviews and guides. Don't mean to be rude but it's the best way too learn about the art of watercooling.

Thanks. I have read a few guides on the web and I'll probably read a few more. What Im mainly concerned about is the whole leakage/breakage thing. I was wondering if there are ways to make a water cooled setup safer to operate. And I havent really read anything that compares the premade systems and systems that I would put together. If someone could answer those questions (or to a thread, guide or review that's already answered it) I will reward you with my love and admiration

(Oh and just so people know, I'm not a total n00b when it comes to cooling. Just have had lots of conflicting info and advice. Kinda confused about it)

If you do go, you should probably get a prebuilt system by Swiftec. But you'll have to decide if the risk is worth it. There is some risk, but if you set it up right, leak test, and don't move your computer around a lot you probably won't have any problems (with leaking at least).

Hmm well about the tube exploding I have never heard it before.
And as 5|*42 said leak test (24 hour on) it before and be carefull and it won't be a problem.

The premade on's are often (if not always) not as good as the on's you build your self if you know what your doning.

If you tell me/us what system setup you have and you intende too cool (with water of course) and if you intend to overclock me/we can give you some good tips about some components. And how much money you have to spend =)

In several years of water cooling I have only had one leak.
It didn’t kill anything...

I have seen 1 explosion (silly bugger forgot to turn on pump) and over 3 hours it boiled the tubing and burst 1 hose.

Have a read of others experiences. Take due cake checking all connections over 24hr ect and you should be a ok...

As for prebuilt kit, or dyi..

It really depends how confident and your skill set regarding working with your hands.

My suggestions, don’t buy beginners water cooling kit. You will be wasting your money in the long run.
