Default stacked peltiers on a p3?

hello, I am looking into getting a p3-1gig. I have plans to stack 2 peltiers on it. the first, an 80w 40mm pelt, the second, a 172 watt 40mm pelt. what kind of temps should I get with this system? and what kinds of oc'age should that give me?

perhaps a multistage pelt would be better?

theoretically your first stage will get 43 and second stage 25 if you have the p3 at stock voltage, realistically, you might see 50 or 60 C difference. In fact it probably won't be much better than just the 172W, pelt stacking is way overrated mostly.

I've done some calculations with kyrotherm.exe and I think the temp. you get wit hjust one 172W pelt is almost equal to the stacked setup.

One 80W Tec will produce approx 90W of heat @ 12V. the CPU will produce another 40W or something like that. that's a total of 130W load on the coldside of the 172W tec. This will produce a DeltaT of approx 20 degrees C. The 80W tec with a 40W heatload will produce a DeltaT of approx 30 degrees. Togehter this is a deltaT of 50 C.

A 172W Tec with just a heatload of 40W the DeltaT will also be 50 C. So just one 172W pelt will probably produce better results since the water temp will stay lower.

I think one 80W Tec with two 120W tecs on top will work for a pentium 3. That would produce a temp around the -30 Degrees C . (if the radiator can keep the watertemp low enough.)

Expect good results wit stacked pelts. I currently have a 1.8ghz @ 2.3ghz,... its pretty happy on the stacked pelts,... giving it stable about -20 c... dunno what you'll get wit a p3 coppermine,... but i've seen an air cooled tulatin 1.
2ghz @ 1.65ghz,... and thats wit a 183 fsb,....

if you wanna see tulatins,...

Tualatin 1.2ghz

P.S. if you wanna read the article,... you might wanna bust out the good ole' babblefish out on altavista
