Default pelts on tualatins

hmm, I appear to be the only person interested in doing this. I ask everywhere and everyone tells me it "should" work quite well. I guess I'll just have to try myself. Has anyone else done this? I'm hoping for 1.8 out of the 1.2 tualleron. Sound feasable? Prolly put a 85w pelt on her, not sure If I'll need a cold plate since there's that al ihs. But then again, it is al, not cu. My 400w psu should handle such a configuration with the pelt right? I just have 2 7200rpm ide disks and 2 cd-rom drives, a radeon, and a nic.

the best is to use a coldplate in Cu
directly on the die(see www.overclockers.com p4 article)

you always should use a coldplate because it
spreads the heat !! very important even with
a p4 or p3tu that has a heatspreader

120W should be better for such a large overclock, maybe you will even need a voltage
mod

hmm, I'm kinda curious if my antec 400w will take it. 80w pelt should be fine.

I used a 118w TEC for my tua 1266
Results => 1833 MHz
-5degC idle 15 FL
though,I didn't insulate it
I'm planning to buy a 220W TEC w/ a thicker coldplate, a better PSU and a better insulation
I think I should achieve 1900-1950 if my HD can bear 200+ FSB ...

Jesus...what other components do you have in the rest of your system? How does the thing perform with that kind of OC?

hmm, I found a 85w pelt laying around at home and slapped it on that cpu with an old aluminum cold plate. Not soo, good, the full load temp was like 18C and didn't overclock any higher. I guess I'll have to go for a 156 watt dog. I didn't realize this thing was putting out over 60w at this voltage and speed(12x133 1.775v).

damned thats a nice OC for a P3

mk, you'll need 156w or 172w for it, you are putting out a lot of heat

yes, I know, does anyone know where I can get a cheap(like around $50-$75), 12-16v or 18-24v psu I can use with a 156w pelt?

mpja also have cheap supplies that have a very strong 5v rail, perfect if you want to connect 4 of them up to get 20v

I ordered a 156w pels that is speced at 18.5A @ 15.1v, I will just attempt to run it on my psu. I'll get one of those PSU's if it doesn't work. Hopefully I will touch 1.8ghz

running a 156watt pelt on my enermax 651 (550watt) system PSU brings the 12V line to about 11.4V, IE its not quite strong enough.

temps are 0/39C on an axia 1Ghz. I'm held back by my radiator and pelt thermal interface(or lack thereof )

ok, it's all pelted up. With the 156watter I get -5C full load and -7C idle with a room temp of 17.5C. I get -4C idle and -1C full load with a room temp of 20C. These temps didn't gain me much. The only clock speed gain I got it 85mhz. I think at 1685 and 1.775v there isn't much more this procesor can do.

bump the voltage to at least 2.0vs just don't go too much higher. My p3 700 didn't enjoy 2.3volts for too long, and unfortuantely died =(

2.0v is far from a good idea on a .13ยต chip. 1.8 seems to be the best bet. here's a screen shot:

very nice results with the tualatin overclock.

I think with those temps and voltage you can't get too much more out of it really. And I wouldn't like anything much above 1.8v on anything .13u either
