I would say you have a condensation problem. Weird instabilty problems when supercooling are usally caused by this...

I have the same problem, ran my radeon below 0 for about a week and started to get some small weird spots and lines until my card died a couple days ago, took the thing apart and let it sit overnight and it works fine now....strange.

i insulated with clear cutex, i kinda painted around the gpu until the gap was closed.
so now the air cant get under the gpu where the pins go through the pc board of the vid card. it took a lot of layers. silicone should do the trick in less layers. now it goes to about -20° celcius without any artifacts and anomalies. |

don't you think its funny that the major CPU companies still speak badly of supercooling? I was just reading something on the AMD website about Peltiers in the FAQ and they had a negative response. They said "blah blah blah pin sweating problem blah". Surprising considering how much evidence there is (thousands of people) who are having alot of success with it. Well I guess VapoChill and KyroTech is a start..

Looking at it from AMD's point of view - If they don't say it's a bad thing they'll have hundreds of half-wits trying to take them to court, because you didn't tell them it could kill their chip.
On top of that AMD are probably looking at a chip having 5+ years of life. How many overclockers are going to have their chip in 12 months? Rotax So what sort of OC are you getting out of the card now? |

Simple (Well maybe not so simple) Physics comes into play when you cool semi-conductors to low temperatures. Unlike conductors, when semi-conductors are cooled their resistance increases. When you get an average electron energy below the activation level you start "missing" pulses. Because video cards don't produce as much internal heat as CPUS, this problem can become noticable even at temperatures around 0C. If you are getting problems with a code chip you can't explain any other way. This is probably the reason.
