I currently have a watercooling setup in which I use an Ehiem 1250 with a Swifttech 6002. I am building my C2D setup with an Apogee because in all but a few cases it seems to outperform the Storm. My question is whether I need a pump with more head pressure. I was also thinking about a Swifttech pump but why spend the money if I don't need it. Although it would be nice to run it off my PS in my case....

The apogee has low pressure drop and low restriction, even lower than mcw 6002. Since you are running only a cpu loop the pump should be fine due to the low restriction. Other pumps will get improve temps by 2 -3 degree C though.

I just noticed that Swift Tech makes a 775 adaptor for the 6002 that I have. I just ordered one from Swift Tech website. 15 bucks shipped is quite a bit cheaper than ordering a new blocka and pump.
