Just received my Athlon 1.33 cpu with AYHJA - Y. Checked the L1 bridges and they are already closed. Did I miss an article or posting somewhere or what.

If I'm not mistaken... L1 bridges being closed = a good thing. Why the frowny face?

Darkhorse, look a little higher, JasonC was talking to shooter.
Anyway... do all AYHJA's come unlocked? I'm going to build a 1.33 AYHJA system for my friend soon, and it would be nice to not have to deal with penciling in those tiny little bridges. (not like its hard, but still...) Does anyone know if the 1.33 AYHJA will be unlocked? |

Makes more sense now.
That I know of all AYHJA's (1.33 & 1.4) come factory unlocked. |

Sweet... I remembering it being a pain in the ass unlocking my 850 (shaky hands) it'll be nice to not have to worry about it, thanks Darkhorse.

Need a little assistance:
Seems like I saw where somebody had a pen that could draw lines on a circuit board that was conductive. It appears that I have damaged some surface areas of a 1.33 AHYJA "Y" series T-bird. There are three small chips in a row. They have a surface that is covered with some type of material that has become damaged. Got this attaching and reattaching a water block. My thinking was to try this conductive pen to resurface the two tiny chips. Anybody got any advice? Hate to buy a new one if this solution would resurrect this chip. It was a good chip. Alas, I knew it well. ![]()

You can either use a pencil or use some epoxy tape that's made for connecting the L1 bridges.
Most all Athlons come unlocked now, especially since May of 2001. ![]() |
