Need some hardware guru input...

I have a P3/800 system that will not run at 800. Here's a rundown of everything I know about it:

Jetway 993AN/AS motherboard, VIA Apollo Pro 133 chipset.
Intel P3/800EB, Slot 1, SL3XQ Costa Rica (800/256/133/1.65V S1)
(2) 128 meg sticks of Hyundai PC133 RAM
Creative Labs GeForceMX card, 32 meg
Creative Labs Ensoniq Audio PCI sound
Realtek 8139 chipset NIC
2 Western Digital hard drives, one UDMA/33 and one UDMA/66
generic 40x IDE CD-ROM, Pacific Digital 4x CDR.
250 watt power supply

If I set the FSB speed to 133, the system will boot into Windows then freeze and make me power it off. I tried all the tweaking I could think of: flashed the BIOS to the newest, d/l and installed all latest drivers, installed DirectX 8.0 runtime, installed VIA 4 in 1, etc.

I tried running it at 133 FSB, with the memory set to run at CLK-33 (100 MHz) to see if it wa the memory that was the problem. Same lockup problem, and when I run the FSB at 100 and the memory at CLK+33, it's stable.

CPU is not getting very warm. I do not have a temp probe, but it's a standard heatsink & fan mounted with heat sink compund.

I dial the FSB back to 124 and run the system at 744 MHz and it runs fine. I started Prime95, System Monitor (to watch CPU usage), ran an MPG looping in the foreground, and left the clock open so I would know what time it froze, hehe. Left this all running for 2.5 hours with the system at 744 without a hitch. Also the CPU got much warmer than I had ever felt it without giving me any problems.

Heat is not the issue. I tried running the system with the air conditioner blowing directly into the case and it still locked at 800, though the components were cold.

I can not address the CPU voltage, as this board neither monitors it nor allows the user to control it.

I've been working with PC hardware for a loooong time, and this has me whupped.

Rock solid at 744, dead at 800? Any and all input is welcome.

never liked via based chipsets, to many issues.

Yeh well MS never much liked anything but Intel so .. thats that..

my Via based board can SMOKE any intel board you got laying around

The way I see it, there is something getting hot. But not neccessarily the CPU.

Reseat the CPU to ensure a good contact on all the pins.

Motherboard soldering points.

If the P/S can't supply enough voltage, it could draw too many amps and create heat at any weak points in the chain.
