Ok Where is it going??

I have been water cooled for about 3 weeks now. I noticed the water level in my riser tube (1/2" silicon tubing) has dropped about 4".

What up what this? I realize that air had to work it's way out but this seems a little more than I expected. I topped it off after the first day up.

Second, I am getting an odor off the setup's hoses. I think it is just the silicon tubing. Sometimes I think it might be the water wetter reacting with the tubing.

Unfortunately I have sinus issues and certain smells bother me more than than people that don't.

I checked for leaks, btw, got none that I can see or feel. I read somewhere that liquid acutally makes it way through the silicon tubing, that stuff is thick, I wonder how that could be?

Your thoughts and smells appreciated.

the water leve dropping could be due to air bubbles in the lines. As air is removed water takes its place and the level goes down.

Also those hoses do give off a slight odar that should go away with time (I beleive) I have had to consitantly add coolant to my system as well, as it was recently re done. if the smell is a problem for you, then a foam insolation covering might help that. But there in is another problem. The foam has a distinctive odor as well.

if U have no water under the case or inside it, and it is all inside the case then there prolly isnt a water leak, one thing to do is place paper towls around everything in the water passage, wrap the hoses, with bunches around the fittings and hose clamps (ALWAYS USE HOSE CLAMPS)

and under the case and inside the case, and observe if they soak up any water over a couple of days.

Hey that pipe wrap insulation is a great idea. I got sinus from h&$$ so that might do it. Now being that the whole setup is only 3 weeks old I may just wait a bit longer.

I am sure nothing is leaking got good clamping for sure, see image.

Thanks for the insulation suggestion.

My system is the same way. It leaks very, very slowly. So slow I can't figure out where.

I just top off the coolant monthly for now. Once AP is over I'm going to redo the whole thing and hopefully eliminate the problem.

Get some dye-lite and a UV light. Looks cool, and was originally made for finding leaks.

even after you can't see any bubbles, there can be very small bubbles coming out of the block/rad/pump, but it should only do that for the first few days, I'd say you have a leak somewhere

If I have a leak that must be a small one. I did move two bubbles that were hanging just at the "T" up the filler tube by flicking the hose, one yesterday and the other the day before. But these bubbles were quite small, the size of a dime.

Leak huh? Everything is dry and so is the carpet. Think I'll add some fluid today and mark the level on the fill tube with tape and see what goes for a while.

Just took the system disconnected all cables and inspected the water connections. No leaks.

I know I have my "T" in the wrong place, should be just out from the exit port on the block. Before I assembled the water system I knew that's where it was to be placed, but I got side tracked somehow and messed up.

Anyway I just ran the pump with the machine on its back, ( no power to the PC) and didn't get any air bubbles to appear. I topped off the filler tube, now I can observe the level and see what happens.

Air has to be in the block or the radiator, if there is air in the system.

I can't see from your picture, but is your filltube capped off? Perhaps your air is really dry and some water is evaporating?

Oh Yeah

Capped and clamped. I have a brass barb with a threaded brass cap on it; dry up there. Waste of money doing it was those two components, next time I just stick a piece of capped 1/2" copper plumbing pipe with the clamp.
thanks

yeah the block, if you noticed from the pic, its a maze2 block if its the old style then there are alot of 90`s in the block,

His block is also the higherst point in the system. So air goes in, and prolly doesnt come back out.

It would seem logical to me to have a T with a filler tube/ air bleed tube at the highest point of the hose going to the block.

Yep-

Again you are right I have my "T" in the wrong place. But I placed the computer on its' back today and ran the pump for a good while and hope it is cleared if it needed to be.

No guaranty (sp?) though, since I cannot see through metal. I topped of the filler tube, must wait and see if the fluid level drops. I am thinking of changing to a Gemini high volume water block Gemini so I would obviously correct the "T" location at that time.

The only thing I don't like about this Gemini block is that I can't install 1/2" barbs, and I am set up with all 1/2" components now.

Thanks for the input

run some water wetter and dyelight...
when there is a leak the wetter and dyelight will be dried up around the area... and it will keep building up untill you see it.

to test it out just drip some on the counter and let it dry
you should get some funky stuff left over

I think you mean I would need to detach it from the chip/MB though right?

And scythe, whats this about older and newer Maze2's?

I'd also like to know how you can see if you've got a new or an old Maze?

Jim - there was an early model of the Maze-2 and a revised model. But that occurred sometime ago. Seeing as you got your Maze2 recently, it should be the current (later model) version. Sorry - don't remember the exact details of the difs atm... it's been a lonnnnnnnnnnng work week.

* hides the water he transported from Jim's system *

This is good news, now I got to get my "T" issue corrected.
