I have an ASUS a7v133, no o/c. I want to remove the fan on the mb chipset, and either epoxy a spare hs or leave it bare. Should I worry about temp problems? Do stock chipsets get that hot?
Thanx |

I'd use a stock intel cooler, or a socket 7 heatsink you have around the place. it might be an idea to keep a fan on it, even if you do reduce the voltage to it

For a point of reference, the KT266a Northbridge hits 120F/49C without any HS/fan on it at a 133FSB (actual measured data).
Yes, you should at least have a good heatsink on it. Either use an old Socket7 or Pentium heatsink or put a Zalman heatsink on it. With a decent sized heatsink and normal air flow in a case, that will do you if you aren't OC'ing. |
