I've tried to get this question answered in another post, however, it kind of got off topic, so here it goes again.
I'm torn between getting the hayden 677 (5 1/2" x 11" x 3/4) pictured here http://www.delta-transparts.com/stor...ission+coolers and a heatercore style of radiator such as the d-tek or big momma. I'd prefer the Hayden, because of it's looks, and mounting ability, it would also fit perfectly on the top of my case. I know ondaedg, used it in his watercooling setup, so I assume it's good, however, I'd like to here what other think, would it compare favorably to heatercore radiators??? Thanks

Just getting into H2O myself Ive read alot about going either way on the type of cooling hardware to use and I think it really doesnt matter on which one you pick.I also just bought a Hayden trans cooler w/2 120mm fans.Mounting it I believe is a little bit harder than the rads but I also plan on putting mine on top of the case.I would like to see some pics of others before I do mine to get some ideas.

I have been doing quite a bit of research on the subject myself. I was originally going to go w/ a tranny cooler, until I found out it was Aluminum. Al & Cu do not mix where H2O is involved. I know people swear that w/ proper coolant treatment (such as Antifreeze) you can reduce corrosion, but I don't buy it. Besides the fact that adding that fluid will reduce the coolants ability to remove heat.
On another note the heater core rads perform better thatn the tranny ones. If you must have the ease of mounting (like I do), then i would suggest a Black Ice rad. They are a bit pricey but now come with 1/2" if you want and a low pressure drop model. My project should be done inside of two weeks and I will post pics and results when done. E-mail me if you'd like and I'll do whatever I can to help.

I'm working on a water cooling system built with a heater core from a Toyota Supra I got from eBay. $15.00 including shipping. I had to make a custom sheet metal shroud to mount the thing. I made a beehive water block and got a Danner Mag Drive to move the water. It's still a work in progress, but I'll post photos when it's a little farther along.

Mounting a heater core isn't that hard. I just ran a bunch of twist ties through the cells and teisted them tight.

as 4 mounting my heater core, it's EASY.
I got 6" #6 threads and usen nylon spacers to mount my fan 2 the HC, the extra threads I used to mount the grill, fan, heater core to the top of my case. very sturdy, and easy as heck. I have pics if u need them.

I was considering a transmittion oil cooler as my rad but decided against it as all the oil coolers I saw had too smaller internal diameter on the pipes used. Whichever u use might want to check and make sure it ain't gonna slow your flow rate too much.

just get the heater core, they aren't too hard to mount if you use some zipties
