Default damn speeding ticket!

Grrr.... just got a speeding ticket for going 35mph in a 25mph zone. I live in this tiny little rural town with only one cop where the streets are abandoned after 10pm. It's just my luck that I manage to run into that one goddamn cop tonight on my way home from my girlfriend's. You'd think I could be let off with a warning for only going 35mph, but nooooo... The ticket comes to $139.

Last April, I had a bad week.

I got a ticket(and a court date) for 162 kph in a 100 zone(100mph in a 60 zone) after work, was late for an appointment. (That one was worth $788 and 6 demerit points originally, lucky for me, my uncle is a decent lawyer, he got it halved when it went to court.)

2 days later, late going to work, passed a line of cars, ended up doing over 100 kmh in a 70 zone (60 mph in a 40 zone) He dropped it to 85kmh.

The next day, just before midnight, I was bombing along, not paying attention to my speed at all, when the lights lit up my rearview. 130 kmh in an 80. He let me go with a warning.

I haven't even been stopped since, because I slowed the hell down. My insurance agent threatened to drop me if I got another ticket. lol.

ditto... Passport Escort 8500 is nice.

I invented the speeding ticket. Within a two month period, I got a ticket leaving my house (less than a block from my house), got a ticket on the way to my parents, got pulled again that night for having a headlight out (no ticket), got another ticket in the same location as the first while on the way to pay court costs for the second ticket. Missed one of those courts dates, got my license suspended--immediately corrected the situation. Got pulled because I forgot to pay property tax on my car and my tags weren't current. the cop found that my license had been suspended and gave me another ticket (major SNAFU). Got a public drinking ticket (possession of a beer in a friend's front yard). Missed that court date and had to turn myself in for "arrest" (the cop laughed when he found out what it was for). Had to get an evaluation to see if I have a drinking problem... luckinly, I don't. Have to go back to court this Apr. 24 to tell the judge the results... this ticket happened last May.
OH... got a ticket in VA for speeding and possession of a radar detector.

Plead innocent... convicted. Drove 4 hours to appeal it.... convicted again.

P.S. my girlfriend's Dad's a police lieutenant

That all happened this past summer.

I have had 3 tickets. One was for Excessive acceleration. That pissed me off. Tires hit a patch of water and squeeled for a second. He said I was speeding. Then, I got a ticket for going 65mph in a 45. I was lucky he didn't see the transam I was raceing. I resently got one for running a red light. I was going about 80 in a 40 though, so I was lucky his radar was off, but. . . my detector would have gone off then so I would have known he ws there.

Must be nice...radar detectors are illegal up here. The cops even have detectors to find radar detectors. Not only do you lose your radar detector, you get a huge fine for having one.

I am 25 and have only had 1 ticket, and that was for causing a wreak. DOH!!! But other than that nothing. I put about 100,000 miles a year on company vehicles (including rentals) and another 5,000-10,000 on my own. The key? Slow the hell down!! Doing 70 in a 50 will not get you there much faster!!! The 5 minutes you save is not worth the time, money, and energy spent later!!! I laugh when I see people blow by me only to be at the next stop light. Or someone on the highway doing 90mph in a 70mph only to be at a gas station filling up while I drive past them later. Just because you pass people dosn't make you a bigger person, only gives you a bigger ego!!!

But what do I know.

blah blah blah....its moronic to make cars that do 120 then limit the speed limit to 70....if people learned how to drive we could all do 120 with no problems....

They are not made to do 120, the extra power is to get you up hills without much problem. How you use that power elsewhere is your problem.

In the case of Sports cars it is just to satisfy your ego that you have a way to expensive car that you can't do much with. I LMAO for days when I went to Honolulu Hawaii for a job and they where renting lamberginis, mustangs, corvetts, ect... and the Speed limit around the whole Island (2.5hour drive at 35mph!!) averages 40mph. Even the highways are 50mph. By the time you get that beast into second gear you driven around the island!!! It is all about ego. Nothing more nothing less. Has little to do with getting from point A to point B quicker.

Pulled out my old driving record..

105 in a 55. I wasn't even 16. needles to say dad didn't give me the goat for my birthday.

rapid acceleration. there are 5 listed if I remember correctly one was in a K car.

failure to stop for schoolbus/manslaughter-I had the busdriver as a witness and still got the ticket, thankfully not the charges

20 in a 55- No it's not a typo.

there are 4 accidents, 3 have notes like too fast for conditions. I only caused one it involves a tailgater-honking-bright flashing-MMF (not me), a sunroof (me), I-275 in Michigan and a really big, really full Thermos® (me), and a few physics lessons, and one laughing cop.

Originally from Detroit area, where 65 is not the speed limit, it's a recomondation. Do at least 65 or the Blue hair & knuckles in the 78 LTD will run you into the wall.

What's really scarry is I haven't had a ticket since I turned 18. and got my permanent license. and started driving a 4cyl mini van.
almost 30 now. I think I'm ready for a hot rod.

You are correct, but you didn't mention towing and marketing. Marketing and competition were a major 'power' source durring the 50, 60, early 70's.

LMAO

Holy crap that's funny.

I remember one time when I was a kid, my grandmother got her Pontiac Parisienne sideways on her way to bingo...and she never lifted the throttle. All she said was "don't tell your grandfather."

Where can this thread go today ? lol You had to get me started, didn't you?

When my friends and I were 17-18, we never missed a Saturday night at the short track. The closest one to us is about an hour away, and we'd be there rain or shine. One week, we were running late, and we were leaving home a half hour before the first heat. My buddy had a (and still has the same) 77 vette, and we were determined to make it on time. Long story short, we were almost there, and had a spot to pass coming up, so he pulled out and kicked it down. We passed 12 or 13 cars, and the needle was climbing past 140 mph as he pulled back in front of the line... just as a car pulled out of a sideroad ahead. He stood on the brakes, and we barely avoided rear ending the poor old guy. Not an 1/8th of a mile up the road, the guy turned off. To this day, there's an impression of three of my finger tips in the dash pad, from me planting my hand when he hit the brakes.

The same guy had a 78 grand prix with a 455 in it. It still had the highway gears from the stock 301. I borrowed it once, and got a 40 over speeding ticket...in second gear. I blew a line of cars away at a traffic light, and raced up the hill to the end of the merge lane...the first car coming the other way over the hill was a cop. lol I hate how every one you just passed has to honk and wave at you when you get pulled over.
